The Skål International Melbourne Committee takes event planning very seriously.

And by seriously, I mean spending a cold and rainy Melbourne evening conducting highly scientific venue inspections

💙Testing the team-building activities
💙Assessing the entertainment value
💙Evaluating member enjoyment levels
💙Diving into ball pits for quality control purposes
💙Wearing questionable eye masks to ensure compliance with industry standards

Research is important, people.

Behind every Skål International Melbourne event is a committee working hard to find experiences that bring our members together, create genuine connections and remind us why this industry is so much fun.

A huge thank you to our fellow committee members who bravely volunteered for this critical assignment.
The findings were extensive, the laughter was plentiful and we’re pleased to report that several potential venues have passed inspection.

We’re already working on ideas for 2026 and 2027 and if this week’s field research is anything to go by, we’ve got some fun things coming your way.

Stay tuned.

It was a fantastic evening of connection, learning and celebration for Skål Melbourne last night, as a wonderfully warm group of members and guests came together at ReWine to explore the growing importance of sustainability in tourism and business.

A huge thank you to our marvellous guest speaker, Sara King from Intrepid Travel, who shared insights into Intrepid’s impressive B Corp certification journey, what it means in practice and why embedding purpose into business operations matters more than ever.

Members left with valuable ideas, practical takeaways and a range of resources that Intrepid has kindly provided, which we’ll be sharing with members soon.

We were also thrilled to officially induct three brilliant new members Kylie Wapp, Margie Stewart and Renee Lamble into our Melbourne Club. Welcome to the Skål family!

(Keep an eye out for our next post where we’ll introduce them properly.)

And to add a touch of international charm to the evening, we were delighted to welcome visiting Skålleague Charles Tee from Skål Singapore a lovely reminder of the global friendships and connections that make Skål so special.

A heartfelt thank you as well to Marshall and the team at ReWine, our favourite sustainable wine merchants.
We were incredibly well looked after throughout the night as we enjoyed a range of fabulous sustainably produced wines while soaking up the knowledge, friendship and camaraderie of our industry colleagues.

Members and industry friends filled the room at the gorgeous Pan Pacific Melbourne this week for our April Power Lunch and what was arguably one of the best Skål Melbourne events to date (and there have been plenty of great ones to brag about, if we say so ourselves!) 💪✨

We heard from two legendary industry experts, David Hughes and Michelle Emerton, highlighting the importance of training, evolution and embracing AI and new strategies in the travel industry. Thank you Dave and Michelle for your insights!

We enjoyed the outstanding 5 star hospitality of the team at Pan Pacific Hotel Group, including an incredible 3 course meal and personal site inspection of their fabulous South Wharf property 😍 And we extend our heartfelt thanks for their generous accommodation prize vouchers - congratulations to our lucky winners Iain, Renee and Kylie!

And the highlight of the day, celebrating the inauguration of our new Club President, Mr Craig Hunt. Skål Melbourne’s future is in great hands!

A huge thank you to all who came along and made the day so special, to the Pan Pacific team for their amazing support, service and care, and to the weather gods for turning on the most marvellous of Autumn days in the city!

We are already so excited for this one! Put the date in your calendars now, Melbourne Skålleagues!!
