How to have the best weekend in the Grampians 👇

I’ve explored the Grampians National Park in every season, and these are my recommendations for this winter!

🔭 Lookouts

📍The Balconies

📍Boroka Lookout

Classics across all seasons, these are great spots to catch the sunrise and sunset.

🥾Hikes

📍Hollow Mountain

📍The Pinnacles via the Grand Canyon

With fewer people on the trail in winter, you can have a more tranquil, private experience on these popular trails.

💦Waterfalls

📍MacKenzie Falls

📍Fish Falls

Winter and spring are the best times to view waterfalls, as they are flowing due to seasonal rainfall.

🌸The Grampians are home to a third of Victoria’s flora! Some of the best florals are seen from late August onwards.

🏡 Accommodation

📍

An affordable, eco-friendly, centrally located stay, YHA Grampians Eco is a great spot to reconnect with nature and get cosy this winter. Highlights include indoor and outdoor fireplaces and seating, private rooms, freshly laid eggs and great people.

🎉 10% off for YHA members when you book direct via the app or website, woo!

You don’t need to get on a long-haul flight to have a holiday this winter! Go far and stay near with YHA.

Save this epic Gippsland waterfall hike 👇

The Noojee region is home to some amazing hikes, and some of Victoria’s incredibly valuable old-growth forests.
Historically, this area has been considered valuable for logging too.

🌿 But here are a few other reasons why these forests are valuable — while still standing:
* Habitat for endangered species such as the Leadbeater’s Possum, Greater Glider and Masked Owl
* Carbon sinks that store carbon, which would otherwise remain in the atmosphere
* Places for people to enjoy nature and support their physical and mental well-being
My favourite waterfall hike in Gippsland:
📍Toorongo Falls
🥾3km
💦2x waterfalls!
🐶 Dog friendly

BONUS HIKE
📍The Ada Tree loop (nearby Toorongo Falls)
🌲One of the largest and oldest trees in Victoria!
🥾3.6km loop

Do you want to travel more ethically? 👇

I don’t know about you, but when I travel, I find my environmental footprint troubling. Travelling to Indonesia in particular, we can so often see the negative impacts of tourism on the environment.

Travelling through the Komodo Islands with felt different and here’s 5 reasons why:

- We re-planted corals with to help restore coral gardens in damaged areas of the reef
- Our guides and crew were always local people
- We only undertook vetted, environmentally conscious activities

Travelling with was travelling with a purpose 🌿

Why are the Komodo Islands such an important place?

The biodiversity of Komodo National Park is astounding. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site where the Asian and Australian ecozones meet. This unique landscape is home to the endangered Komodo dragon, the world’s largest lizard, and serves as a vital sanctuary for hawksbill turtles and majestic manta rays. Beneath the surface, the park supports over 250 species of reef-building corals and 1,000 species of tropical fish, sustained by nutrient-rich currents at the confluence of the Indian and Pacific Oceans. I cannot wait to go back and explore more.

How to see the Aurora Australis in Melbourne - and Australia! 🌌 👇🏼

📍Locations
There is NOT one single location. Go somewhere where you have a clear view to the south, it’s clear skies (no clouds) and it’s away from light pollution. That’s the magic formula ✨

If you’ve been enjoying the aurora hunting hype in Australia and especially in Melbourne check out these apps to help you get a better understanding.

⚠️ Please remember to take rubbish with you!! Tourists have been leaving rubbish all over our beaches while flocking to see the southern lights 🙅🏼‍♀️

🦘 Please watch out for wildlife while you are driving around at night - its their home too.
