For the children, it provides positive reading experiences to help increase their confidence, motivation and fluency 🌟

For the shelter cats waiting to be adopted, it helps them come out of their shell and become more comfortable around children 🐈

📅 Thursdays at 4pm during term 3

Hume City Council has joined 14 partner organisations in recommitting to the Chain of Ponds Collaboration at Woodlands Historic Park. This long-term project aims to transform Moonee Ponds Creek into a vibrant, iconic Melbourne waterway.

We’re proud to continue working with Traditional Owners, local governments, community groups, and more to deliver social, cultural, and environmental benefits for generations to come.

Welcome also to the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Cultural Heritage Aboriginal Corporation, our new partners, who shared the creek’s original name Wilami Wunmabil – meaning ‘home of the Bustard’ (bush turkey).

🎾 Greenvale Tennis Club is getting a major upgrade!

👷‍♂️ Excavation works are now underway – and we’ve already uncovered some massive granite rocks, with some measuring up to 2.5 metres high and weighing over 25,000kg! A 36-tonne excavator and a low loader truck were brought in to safely remove them.

💪 Despite the challenge, we’re on track and preparing to build the two brand-new courts.

As part of the project, we’ll be:
🎾 Constructing two new courts (courts 10 and 11)
🔄 Rebuilding three existing courts (courts 5, 6 and 7)
💡 Upgrading lighting on the courts
🚗 Installing new carpark lighting for improved safety and visibility
⚡ Upgrading the electrical mains to support new infrastructure
🏠 Redeveloping the tennis club pavilion with modern amenities for players, spectators and the wider community

🤝 This project is being delivered in stages by Council, in partnership with the Federal Government and additional developer contributions.
