Gibson Steps is one of the most spectacular beaches along Victoria’s Great Ocean Road. Descend the famous 86 steps to stand beneath towering limestone cliffs and admire the offshore sea stacks known as Gog and Magog. Step back in time at Ballarat’s Sovereign Hill, an award-winning living museum that recreates the excitement of Victoria’s 1850s gold rush. Established to preserve the history of the goldfields, it brings the boomtown era to life with costumed characters, historic buildings, and hands-on experiences.

Visitors can watch traditional lolly-making demonstrations, witness molten gold being poured into a gleaming gold bar, try their luck at gold panning, and enjoy a horse-drawn carriage ride through the township.

A highlight is the underground mine tour, descending around 20 metres below ground, where visitors explore historic mine tunnels, see original workings and mining equipment, and gain a fascinating insight into the challenging lives of Ballarat’s nineteenth-century gold miners.
