🌿NEW AREAS OF GRAMPIANS NATIONAL PARK OPEN FOR LONG WEEKEND🌿

The impact of the 2024/2025 summer fires in Grampians (Gariwerd) National Park was widespread and resulted in the closure of many popular visitor sites including campgrounds, picnic areas, a large network of roads and walking tracks (including sections of the Grampians Peaks Trail).

Parks Victoria is now progressing with large scale fire recovery works across the park. To complement these, a staged re-opening of visitor sites is being implemented.

Staff have worked diligently to ensure the first phase of reopening’s are ready for the Easter long weekend.

The sites to be reopened on Good Friday (18th April) are:
✅Silverband Falls Walk and Silverband Road
✅Balconies walk
✅Sundial carpark and the walk to the Pinnacle and Lakeview lookout walk (Sundial Peak remains closed)
✅Boroka Track Walk
✅Jimmy Creek and Wannon Crossing Campgrounds
✅Kalymna Campground and Kalymna Walk
✅Griffin Trailhead to Cassidy Gap Rd (Grampians Peaks Trail) – Walkers can now access this area by either pick up or drop off at Grampians Tourist Rd. The Griffin Fireline Track remains closed to vehicles but open to walkers accessing the Grampians Peaks Trail via the Griffin Trailhead.

With the Grampians (Gariwerd) National Park fire now contained, Halls Gap township will reopen to visitors from 10am tomorrow, Wednesday 8 January.

Parts of the national park not affected by fire will also reopen to visitors from 9am Friday 10 January.

Sites that are reopening include the northern section of the Grampians Peaks Trail from Mt Zero to Halls Gap, the popular MacKenzie Falls and the Zumsteins Historic Area. More info: https://emergency.vic.gov.au/news-and-media

Fire crews and heavy machinery will remain in the area, as crews continue to closely monitor and patrol the fire.

WE ARE OPEN!!!!
From Tuesday the 7th of January at 10am we officially reopen to visitors. It has been a long 17 days of being closed so our animals are so excited to see you all. Encounters will be up and running so please call to book or arrive early to avoid disappointment.

We know visitors are keen to get back to the lovely Halls Gap after the recent bushfire, so plans are in place to allow that to happen – but only when it is safe.

Challenging conditions are expected over the weekend with very hot, dry and windy weather forecast on both Saturday and Sunday. Thankfully, these conditions are forecast to ease Sunday evening into Monday.

If the fire remains within current containment lines and no more significant fire activity is experienced over the weekend, fire agencies are looking to re-open Halls Gap to businesses and visitors during next week.

The reopening of non-fire affected sections of the Grampians National Park will be assessed at the same time.

These decisions will be made in consultation with local councils, business and tourism groups, and Parks Victoria.

🏆🏆 2024 CopRice Victorian Utility Dog Championships 🏆May 3 – May 5, 2024 🏆🏆

The Entire Form for the 2024 CopRice Victorian Utility Dog Championships hosted in the South West Zone is now online .

⛺️ There is camping around the grounds, however power is first in best dressed and toilets and shower available,
🍖Catering will be available on all days in the form of a BBQ,
🍺 the team will be support the local Harrow Hermitage Hotel on the Saturday night for event dinner.
