Sapphire Coastal Adventures (formerly Merimbula Marina) is owned by Simon and Jessica Millar. We started the business in 2008. Our passion is whale watching and for 7 months of the year this is what we do. May to August during the Northern Migration of the wonderful humpback wha

les we operate whale watching cruises out of Darling Harbour Sydney. And then for the Southern Migration from August to November we run daily cruises from Merimbula and Bermagui on the NSW South Coast. The Southern Migration is our favourite time of the year as so many whales pass close to the shore and the whale watching is sensational! Outside of the whale season we operate 3hr Reef Fishing Charters & 2hr Ocean Wildlife Adventures from Merimbula. These tours are a wonderful way to see the spectacular Sapphire Coast from the water and regularly sight a variety of marine life (Seals, Dolphins, Whales, Seabirds). A very windy day at sea today. Thankfully lots of whales were passing Eden and it was great to see some lovely tail action on both morning and afternoon cruises. We also enjoyed sighting dolphins on both cruises.

It was a windy wonderful day with the whales off Eden today. We sighted several pods of whales between Boyd’s Tower and Mowaree. However it was pod of three south of Mowaree that stole our hearts - this trio swam over to the boat and spy hopped right next to us repeatedly 💙💙💙
A wonderful experience for all onboard.

Then on our afternoon cruise we watched multiple pods of whales tail slapping, pec slapping and peduncle throws right off Twofold Bay. Then right towards the end of the cruise another pod of three surprised us with a few unexpected breaches 🙌

This morning we had an excellent morning of whale watching from Eden. After briefly watching a couple of pairs of whales we found a pair of friendly inquisitive whales who swam under the boat a few times. One of these whales then proceeded to breach repeatedly, head lunge and pec slap 💙 much to everyone’s delight. On our way back we were joined by dolphins and watched several breaching whales.

From Merimbula we headed north and found some wonderful whales who mugged the boat for the entire trip - so many spectacular spy hops and incredible close encounters 💙💙
Then this afternoon was all about the tails -
We saw some great tail throws.

This morning we headed out to find lots of whales off Eden. Interestingly one of these whales had several rake marks and parts missing off its tail fluke, evidence of a previous orca encounter.
Then on our afternoon cruise we watched two whales breaching repeatedly. They then decided to stop and proceeded to mug us 💙💙 Then all of a sudden another two whales arrived and we were being mugged by four whales 💙💙💙💙

A spectacular morning of whale watching off Eden this morning for the first day of Spring. We were lucky to see some wonderful humpback whale acrobatics - breaching, pec and tail slapping, head lunges, peduncle throws. All with crystal clear water, calm seas and sunshine - it doesn’t get any better 🙏🐋💙
We sighted over 20 whales on the afternoon cruise who were relaxed and cruising slowly. Seemingly enjoying the warm spring weather 🌞 🐋💙

Stunning ocean conditions today - calm seas and sunshine. We found several relaxed whales off Eden all slowly meandering south. We also sighted hundreds of albatross sitting on the glassy calm sea 💙

On our Merimbula cruise we found a whale in the Bay and cruised across to Haycock with it. We also sighted a lovely Little Penguin in the Bay. 🐧💙

Well this amazing run of good weather continues. Simply stunning ocean conditions today off Eden. Lots of whales sighted on both our morning and afternoon cruises. Whales in close, whales out wide and whales in between.

The beautiful weather continued today 😊

We found multiple whales on all three cruises. Most were super relaxed on long downtimes but we had some lovely close encounters with several friendly whales. It was wonderful to see so many whales coming down the coast.
