Finally a morning without wind 😊 This morning we found a beautiful pod of three humpbacks off Tura Beach. These inquisitive and playful whales were playing with dolphins and seaweed and it was such a joy to watch them.
This afternoon we found a single humpback off Long Point and travelled across the Bay to a Haycock where we sighted another whale. We had a several close encounters with this relaxed young whale.

Another windy day on the ocean today.
This morning we headed out wide to find a pod of four humpbacks who showed us some beautiful tail action and a few close swim byes.
On our afternoon cruise we found a great pod of dolphins and lots of seabird action. After a long search we found a few whales up north of Tura Headland. And traveled back south with them.

This morning we followed the Crested Terns offshore to find a large pod of common dolphins, seals and three humpback whales feeding. We watched them as the lunged through the water mouths open hunting with the dolphins. It is always so amazing to watch whales and dolphins feeding on a bait ball. These whales became very relaxed after feeding and slowly cruised south, coming over to check the boat out. Here’s hoping we get to see some more feeding action tomorrow ….

This morning we didn’t need to travel far before we found our first whales just off Long Point. This pod of three were on very long down times so we headed over to a pair of whales in the Bay. We then went backwards and forward between these two pods watching some great breaching and tail slapping. Interestingly one of these whales had no dorsal fin.
Then this afternoon we searched for a while before finally finding a pair of whales off Middle Beach this pair were soon joined by another whale and we travelled south with this trio. One whale caught us by surprised with a random breach. These whales were spending lots of time on the surface which was wonderful 🐋💙

Another windy day on the ocean today!

This morning we headed a couple of miles off Tura to an active pair of humpbacks. These whale were active as we approached, then went into cruise mode as they headed out to sea. We ended up 8 miles offshore, they then put on a spectacular display, breaching, tail slapping, head lunges, pectoral find slapping - simply awesome 😀

On our midday cruise we found a pod of three subadults a few miles off Middle Beach. These whales were chasing and playing with a large pod of common dolphins - such fun to watch them interacting with the dolphins and at one stage a few seals. We were lucky to witness some beautiful pectoral find slapping and a few tail throws.

Wonderfully, windy and wild whales today 🐋🐋🐋🐋🐋

This morning as we headed out from Long Point, Merimbula we could see several blows. We decided to go to a pod off Middle Beach. This pod of three humpbacks showed signs of sub surface feeding and we spend most of the trip cruising around with them. We could see other whales in the distance. We were also lucky to see two massive breaches near the boat.

On our second trip we again headed out to the same region and found a pair of active breaching whales. These whales seemed to love the windy conditions and it was great watching them launch out of the waves.

Ocean conditions were much improved today. We found three whales 3nm off Long Point on our morning trip. These whales were slowly cruising southwards and were very relaxed.
We headed back out for our afternoon cruise and found another pod of three very inquisitive humpbacks who mugged the boat for over half an hour! These whales circled and swam under the boat numerous time and did lots of beautiful spy hops 🥰 🐋💙

Wet and rough conditions today made for a challenging morning on the ocean. Lots of common dolphins and seals sighted throughout the trip and several humpback whales. At one stage we found two humpbacks in amongst dolphins, seals and seabirds. The dolphins and seals were feeding but we could not confirm if the whales were. Looking forward to getting back out there tomorrow.

This morning we had the amazing privilege of being mugged by three inquisitive humpback whales 💙🐋🙏 Ocean conditions were glassy calm and the water was clear with great visibility. It is always such an incredible experience when the whales come over to say hello and do some ‘people watching.’ These whales interacted with us for most of the trip and we are still smiling from the experience 😊🐋🙏😊
The gorgeous ocean conditions continued for the afternoon cruise and we found several pods of very relaxed whales cruising slowly southwards. Great dolphins were sighted on both trips 🙌🐬🙌

Warmer conditions today on the water 😊
We headed a few miles off Short Point to find lots of dolphins and seabirds and several whales. These whales were swimming in circles with erratic up times, possibly feeding or searching for feed as we saw them swimming towards pods of dolphins and birds. Towards the end of our time we finally found a pair of whales who were a little more predictable and migrating south. These whales were very inquisitive and swam over to the boat a few times. A third whale joined them and it was interesting to watch them interacting. Looking forward to getting back out again tomorrow and seeing more whale behaviours 🐋💙

It was fantastic to be back out on the water today off Merimbula. After enjoyed watching a big pod of common dolphins we found a pair of juvenile humpback whales a couple of miles off Tura. These whales were cruising steadily southwards, relaxed and surfacing regularly.
On our afternoon cruise we again found lots of dolphins as we searched for whales. After a long search we found another pair of humpbacks as we were heading back in off Middle Beach.

The southern humpback whale migration has certainly began and we are looking forward to seeing over 45,000 whales making their past the Sapphire Coast on their way back down to Antarctica 🐋💙
