Sapphire Coastal Adventures (formerly Merimbula Marina) is owned by Simon and Jessica Millar. We started the business in 2008. Our passion is whale watching and for 7 months of the year this is what we do. May to August during the Northern Migration of the wonderful humpback wha

les we operate whale watching cruises out of Darling Harbour Sydney. And then for the Southern Migration from August to November we run daily cruises from Merimbula and Bermagui on the NSW South Coast. The Southern Migration is our favourite time of the year as so many whales pass close to the shore and the whale watching is sensational! Outside of the whale season we operate 3hr Reef Fishing Charters & 2hr Ocean Wildlife Adventures from Merimbula. These tours are a wonderful way to see the spectacular Sapphire Coast from the water and regularly sight a variety of marine life (Seals, Dolphins, Whales, Seabirds). This morning the ocean was calm and the sun was shining.
We found seals and dolphins feeding just outside Twofold Bay before heading north in search of whales. We found three humpback whales just south of Haycock and followed these across the Merimbula Bay where another whale joined them. These whales surfaced regularly and all looked to be nice and fat after their summer feeding in Antarctica.

Beautiful ocean conditions today 🌞
We found dolphins in Twofold Bay and enjoyed watching them es**rt us offshore as we headed out to search for whales. We found two beautiful big fat humpbacks out wide off Eden. They were very curious and swam over to check us out 💙They then treated us to to some beautiful head lunges and several impressive breaches 🚀🚀🚀🚀 A great time on the water with the whales, dolphins and seabirds.

Beautiful conditions for the last day of Autumn 🍂🌞

It was a warm, sunny and calm day at sea today. We headed out from Eden and found a juvenile humpback whale a few miles out. 🐋 We then headed off and found a fantastic pod of common dolphins who stole the show with their playful antics 🐬🐬🐬🐬 It was a large pod and lovely to see so many calves amongst them 💙💙 On our way back we called in to see the seals at Mowaree 🦭🦭🦭and caught a few quick glimpses of a passing Minke whale 🐋 A most enjoyable time out on the water 😊

Today was a gorgeous, sunny day on the ocean. We headed wide off Eden to find two lovely humpback whales. This pair of whales surfaced regularly and then stopped amongst the birds and rested for some time. They both looked fat and healthy and certainly were not in any hurry, seemingly enjoying the warm, sunny conditions. We are also loving all the Albatross that we have been seeing this past week!

Then this afternoon whilst taking a bus group around Twofold Bay we found another young humpback near Boyd's Tower.

It was a grey, overcast, rainy day off Eden today. After searching for a while we finally found two illusive juvenile humpbacks. One tail slapped upon approach but then disappeared for long downtimes. The other had lots of scaring and an unpleasant looking skin condition. We wished them a safe journey and headed back in passing several seabirds.

It was great to see the sun shining this morning as we headed out from Eden in search of whales. We travelled out wide and finally found a pair of fast moving humpbacks down towards Green Cape. These two whales were travelling north at pace and were surfacing regularly. We also enjoyed seeing lots of Albatross on the cruise today. An enjoyable time out on the ocean.

Awesome start to the 2026 Whale Watching Season!🙌🐋

This morning off Eden we headed off on our first whale watching cruise for the season. We soon found a playful humpback down off Mowaree. This whale was in no hurry and seemed intent to show us all his moves - tail slapping, head lunges, breaching, pectoral fin slapping and then repeat. A great way to start the season.

This year we are excited to have our vessel Bubbles in Eden for the Northern Migration (May to end of July). At this time of the year the whales can often be further offshore so having the larger and more comfortable boat will certainly make it easier and more enjoyable!

Guests onboard yesterday’s Eden Wildlife Cruise had the wonderful surprise of a breaching whale in Twofold Bay 🐋💙🐋💙 Plus the added bonus of a wonderful, playful pod of Bottlenose dolphins 🐬💙🐬💙 A fantastic morning on the ocean 😊

With the numbers of whales passing each day growing we are super excited for the start of our whale watching season. Our first trip is this Sunday 10:30am in Eden. We look forward to welcoming you onboard Bubbles and heading off in search of whales 🐋
