Camel West

Camel West We no longer provide camel rides. We have moved north to run a station at Shark Bay. Book your Camel ride today

Back in the mid 1800’s Camels were imported to Australia to help build some of our major infrastructure like the overland telegraph, The Ghan and Trans Australian Railways and even the Kalgoorlie pipeline. The use for Camels quieted down around 1920’s when cars and steam trains became more popular which eventually saw Camels become redundant for our infrastructure needs. At Camel West we’ve found a new job for Camels and it’s a lot more exciting than building railway lines.

Anyone know how this was used. Found in old stables. Horses used here and camels in the past.
