This morning’s ’Beyond the Ramp’ event, put on by Sunshine Coast Event Industry Association was fantastic… a real conversation about why the Paralympic Games should be run completely parallel (ie. replicating) to the Olympic Games, involving all participants and attendees by giving them a complete equal opportunity.

Experts Paul Nunnari (HonDLitt) PSM PLY, Dane Cross ( Sporting Wheelies ) and Chris Kerrisk ( Cérge.tech ) shared their insights and top tips on the importance of sharing and providing as much info and detail as possible to people with disabilities (whether they be cognitive, sensory or physical) when invitations are issued, so attendees can research, plan and decide if the logistics are suitable for them well before they arrive for the event.

55% of people with a disability rely on AI for their research and info to make their plans, so it is critical that this information is correct. Disability requirements are different for every individual and our objective should be to make sure that everyone has an incredible experience, and to remove as many barriers as possible.

🧁☕️ 🍽️ What an awesome morning! Today I got to decorate cupcakes using fondant for the first time, with a coffee and cake theme, thanks to the fabulous Renee from Daisy’s Cakes & Bakes and Sean from Montville Coffee. This event is part of The Curated Plate program for 2026 and was fantastic. We all learnt so many new skills and techniques, and took home a box of cakes to be proud of, after a delightful morning of coffee, learning and conversation. Such a fun time! 🍽️☕️🧁

We have a new activity in town and this one is awesome! 🫍 Yesterday Whales Sunshine Coast 🐋 launched and The Explorer was christened… Australia’s largest commercial jet boat, and a unique and thrilling Whale Watching adventure, right here on the Sunshine Coast. Congratulations to Darren, Captain Shorty (who has 25+ years experience in whale watching) and the team for bringing their dream to fruition… and thank you Sophie for a great launch event! 🚤🫍☀️

It’s been a SPECTACULAR first half of 2026… throughout Jan to June we’ve been involved in exciting events that have taken us from Sunshine Coast, Brisbane, Toowoomba to Rockhampton. Conferences, festivals, concerts, famils, Awards Nights, Charity Galas… there’s been a bit of everything!

Thank you to everyone who has supported, attended or been involved in some shape or form… you are all amazing and we appreciate the input!

Starting out in Sydney, we transferred the business to the Sunshine Coast in mid 2000, where we have been based ever since. Spectacular Events has constantly evolved, morphed, and adapted whilst we have navigated, grown and achieved great success in the conference, event and travel spaces; moving with the times and demands of the current markets, and being trusted by our wonderful clients to work on projects throughout Australia, and also delivering conferences in the South Pacific, Asia and US regions.

Am delighted to have been re-appointed for another term as a Non Executive Director of Visit Sunshine Coast. Working with this incredible team is a privilege, and it’s a thriving who are passionate and focused on growing and supporting all things tourism and events in this fabulous region.

This afternoon VSC came together for their annual AGM and end of year event at Novotel Sunshine Coast Resort, with 200 members in attendance and updates from our CEO Matt Stoeckel and Tourism and Events Queensland CEO Craig Davidson. There was certainly much to celebrate, including the launch of the Sunshine Coast to Singapore flights (via Bali).
