Your safari lodge, but on the beach./

Uga Chena Huts sits between Yala National Park and the Indian Ocean in Sri Lanka. There are just 14 thatched huts, each with its own plunge pool. Start your morning looking for leopards, then spend the afternoon with a G&T by the pool while elephants wander the beach out front. 🍸

Drink of choice: gin and tonic, poolside, at golden hour. It’s not a rule, but it should be.

Nine rooms, 200 olive trees and Cortona on the horizon. Fontelunga is the kind of place where the hosts treat you like a house guest, and Sandy’s just back already planning her return. Her one rule: make sure your stay includes a Wednesday. That’s when the owners throw their dinner party, with prosecco in the garden, four courses and a long table of strangers who are friends by dessert.

Some hotels tick boxes. quietly thought of every box you didn’t know you had.

Tucked into one of Portugal’s prettiest corners, you’re right in the heart of Dão w**e country — so a wander through the Santar gardens and a w**ery visit aren’t optional. They’re the point.

Back at the hotel, the days take care of themselves. Pool. Spa. A long lunch at the restaurant. Then a glass of something local up on the grounds while the light does its thing.

And the rooms? No two are the same. Each one is stunning, with every amenity exactly where you’d want it and beds you’ll be reluctant to leave.

Here’s her Day 1, so save it for later.

Stay: The One Monumental Palace, a grand historic building right on Avenida dos Aliados. It’s so central you can walk to almost everything, and it’s the kind of hotel you’ll want to come back to after a full day of exploring. Thank you to The One for hosting her.

✨ Private car from the airport, then check in at The One
✨ Coffee and a Pastele De Nata at Combi Coffee
✨ Walking tour through Porto’s hills, tiles and rooftops (bring comfy shoes, there are lots of stairs)
✨ Livraria Lello, often called the most beautiful bookstore in the world. Book a timed ticket and go in the late afternoon.
✨ Welcome dinner at Yakuza by Olivier. The Wasabi margarita is a must try. Eat all of the food. You won’t be disappointed.
