Where wide skies meet quiet landscapes, Cranbrook invites you to slow down and immerse yourself in nature.

Think pink salt lakes, sweeping lookouts, rich birdlife and seasonal wildflowers all set against the striking backdrop of the Stirling Range.

Cranbrook’s Pink Lake forms part of a chain of salt lakes tracing an ancient waterway. Please note this lake sits on private land, but the surrounding landscape offers a glimpse into the region’s unique natural systems.

For panoramic views, head to Sukey Hill Lookout, located 5km east of town off Salt River Road. From here, take in uninterrupted views of the Stirling Range. In spring, the area comes alive with wildflowers.

If you’re keen to explore further, the wildflower walk along Salt River Road offers a gentle 1.7km loop, with interpretive signage highlighting native flora, including a variety of striking orchids in season.

It’s these quiet, nature-filled moments that make Cranbrook so special.

Take the road less travelled… and discover it for yourself.

On the weekend, the Mount Barker Visitor Centre was lit up in blue and green in recognition of National Corrections Day to acknowledge the dedication of Corrective Services staff across Western Australia who work tirelessly to support safer communities and reduce reoffending.

Thank you to all those working in corrective services, Department of Justice WA and community support roles throughout WA.

What a Sunday! 😍

There’s something special about stumbling across a place that feels personal.

That’s exactly what Messy Fingers at has become for us ✨

What started as a small dream built around good food, family and bringing people together has somehow grown into one of the biggest adventures of our lives! Joining the incredible team at West Cape Howe Wines 🤍

We’re not chefs from big fancy city restaurants.
We’re not a big hospitality group.
We’re just a family who genuinely loves feeding people.

From weddings and food trucks to late nights rolling dumplings, packing deliveries and testing recipes at home around our kids; Messy Fingers has always been built with heart first.

Joining West Cape Howe Wines felt natural from the beginning. The warmth, the community, the relaxed atmosphere overlooking the vines…it’s the kind of place where people stay longer than they planned to.

Somewhere you can share dumplings over wine, let the kids run around, celebrate milestones, or simply enjoy a slow afternoon with friends.

We knew that our food matched that feeling!

Food that’s comforting, exciting, a little messy and made to share.
Whether it’s our bao buns, laksa, crispy rice balls or the dishes inspired by the flavours we grew up loving, every plate that leaves our kitchen carries a little piece of us with it.

Running a small business isn’t glamorous most days. It’s early mornings, long nights, exhausted feet and hoping people keep showing up.

So every booking, every order, every shared post and every family that chooses to spend their afternoon with us genuinely means the world!

To those who have visited us already, thank you.
If you haven’t yet, we’d absolutely love to welcome you!

Come for the wine.
Stay for the food.
Leave feeling like family 🤍

🤍 Messy Fingers x

A closer look at some of Rob Olver's analog (film) images, on show at the Mount Barker Visitor Centre across the road from Mitchell House Arts Centre for the month of May.
Rob says "it takes patience to shoot with film - you don't see the results of your work for weeks and sometimes months! But somehow you know deep down when you have taken a good shot. An amazing feeling."
