The Australian Women’s Ski Club (AWSC) was recognised this week by Alan Arthur from Alpine Resorts Victoria (ARV). Now in its 75th year at Mt Buller, AWSC is one of the mountain’s original and oldest lodges.

The Club was presented with its 70-year award (delayed due to COVID). Accepting on behalf of members were Jacqui Turner (Secretary), Dylan Vanderzee, Binky Kfouri, and Chloe Kfouri.

Here’s to many more years of AWSC at Mount Buller — honouring the pioneering women who helped shape the spirit of skiing on the mountain.

It was founded in NSW in September 1932 and now operates only in Victoria (Mt Buller) since 1950. As one of the early Clubs at Mt Buller it was built by many hands and volunteers for the pioneer female skiers, in its early years the 'dolls house' was a hub of vibrant activity at Buller.

Originally founded to foster the growth of skiing among women, AWSC has played a pivotal role in advancing women's skiing in Australia.

Today, the club continues its legacy by supporting women, families and school groups in connecting with the mountains.
