Oyez, Oyez, Oyez!

Six weeks have passed since the glorious Fantasy Medieval Fair, and after gathering our thoughts, catching our breath, and reflecting on another wonderful year, the committee is now preparing to embark on planning the 2027 fair.

As we look to the future, we would love to hear from the patrons who helped bring the magic to life. Your feedback helps us understand what you loved, what could be improved, and how we can continue shaping the Fantasy Medieval Fair into an even stronger, more enchanting experience for years to come.

Whether you joined us for the jousting, the feasting, the music, the markets, the costumes, or simply to soak up the atmosphere, we invite you to complete our patron survey and share your thoughts.

Your voice helps shape the future of the fair.

What a gathering of realms! ⚔️✨

Thousands of people, young and old, wandered through the Fantasy Medieval Fair in everything from comfy daywear to full courtly splendour, creaturely finery, armour, cloaks, horns, wings and wizardly wonders.

We were also honoured to welcome Her Worship the Mayor, Lynette Martin OAM, who addressed the gathered crowd and helped mark another magical chapter in the Fair’s story.

Were you amongst the crowds? Did Castleforge Photography Castleforge Photography capture your finest fair moment?

𝐁𝐔𝐇𝐔𝐑𝐓
Pronunciation: BOH-hurt or BOO-hurt
Most commonly in English-speaking medieval combat circles: BOH-hurt.

Definition:
Buhurt is a full-contact medieval combat sport where fighters wear historically inspired steel armour and use blunt steel weapons, such as swords, axes, maces and polearms. It can refer specifically to group melee battles, but it is also often used as a general term for modern armoured medieval combat. Tiny polite apocalypse in a tin suit. ⚔️

The word comes from medieval tournament language, with roots in terms like behourd / bohurt, referring to tournament-style mock combat or melee fighting.

Did you catch the incredible BUHURT tournaments at the Fantasy Medieval Fair?

Not all market stalls are forged equal. ⚔️✨

At the Fantasy Medieval Fair, our merchants are more than vendors. They are makers, crafters, conjurers and collectors of the curious, travelling from across Australia to bring their wares to Mount Gambier.

From local artisans to travelling traders, every stall adds another layer to the world of the Fair. You’ll find the medieval, the magical, the whimsical and the wonderfully unexpected.

This isn’t just shopping. It’s wandering through a marketplace from another realm.

Thank you to every merchant who helps make the Fair feel alive. 🐉

At the heart of the Fantasy Medieval Fair are the people. ⚔️✨

The knights, the nobles, the wee dragons, the wandering adventurers, the families, the friends, the locals, and the travellers who journey from far and wide to be part of something a little bit magical.

Every costume, every smile, every “O’Yez!” moment adds another stitch to the grand tapestry of the Fair. It is our patrons who bring the world to life, transforming the grounds from an event space into a kingdom of colour, creativity, and community.

Whether you travelled across the country or wandered in from just down the road, you are the faces of the Fair.

And by the old gods and glittering goblets, what magnificent faces they are. 🏰

O’Yez, O’Yez! Stall-dressing glory has been bestowed! ⚔️✨

Congratulations to The Village Cooper and Whimsical A Designs, our victorious champions of the Outdoor and Indoor Stall-Dressing Competitions.

Each year, we seek out the merchants who go beyond “setting up a stall” and truly help build the world of the Fantasy Medieval Fair. Whether it’s medieval charm, fantasy flair, enchanted details, or full goblin-market gorgeousness, these are the stalls that help transform the Fair into something much more than a market.

For their efforts, our winners receive 50% off their stallholder fees for next year’s Fair.

A mighty thank you to every stallholder who added that extra spark of magic, theatre, and world-building to the event. You help make the Fair feel like stepping through a portal, not just through a gate.

So, merchants, makers, tinkers and traders… start dreaming, scheming and gathering your finest decorations now.

Save the date: April 17 & 18, 2027.
The next quest awaits. 🐉
