The zoo already draws around 300,000 visitors a year. This gives them even more reason to stay, and to explore further while they’re here.

Congratulations to the 2026 NSW Tourism Awards finalists!

Three businesses from across the DNCO region have been named finalists in this year's NSW Tourism Awards:
📍 Broken Hill Mundi Mundi Bash
📍 Nundle Woollen Mill
📍 Old Dubbo Gaol (Dubbo Regional Council)

Being named a finalist is a massive achievement. This year's Awards drew 210 nominations across 30 categories. Every entrant had to meet recognised industry quality standards, then go through assessment by a panel of 50 judges alongside a consumer review score.

Winners will be announced at the NSW Tourism Gala at ICC Sydney on Monday 9 November. We'll be cheering you on!

We are beyond thrilled to announce that last Friday, DNCO's Visitor Experiences Summit won the award for Outstanding Visitor & 24-Hour Economy Collaboration at the 2026 Business Awards New England North West gala in Quirindi! 🏆

We'll now go on to represent the New England North West as a finalist at the State Business Awards in October. Fingers crossed!

In March, tourism operators, industry leaders and colleagues spent 24 action-packed hours in and around Narrabri. There was networking, product showcases and collaborative exploration of the region. Now in its fourth year, the Summit focused on the social impact of tourism, alongside trends, data and case studies shared through keynotes, panel discussions and workshops.

This award belongs to everyone who made it happen. That includes our brilliant team and board, our MC Nigel Collin, Event Extraordinaire Belinda King, and our fabulous Narrabri hosts. A special shout-out goes to Sakuni [Rindy] Maladeni and Gilly Goddard from Narrabri Shire Council, and thanks also to The Lodge, The Exchange and every operator who came ready to learn and connect.

It was a big night for tourism all round, with Alternate Root Cafe in Uralla taking out Business of the Year.

Congratulations to all the finalists and winners on the night, and thank you to Business NSW for celebrating the power of regional collaboration.

Warrumbungle National Park has been ranked the world's second-best stargazing destination in the 2026 Clean Sky Index, second only to France's Pic du Midi, and ahead of some of the biggest names in global astronomy.

June's data is in: tourist spend is up 4.4% YoY and visitor numbers are up 4.8% across the region. Restaurants are on fire (+28% YoY), with retirees leading the spend and Dubbo topping the source markets.

50 Years of Deadly.

This Sunday marks the start of NAIDOC Week (5–12 July), and this year is a big one: It's the 50th anniversary of the week-long celebration, with the national theme "50 Years of Deadly."

Fifty years of celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, honouring resistance, calling for truth, and a chance to look ahead to the next fifty.

Across the country, communities will be marking the week with events, exhibitions and gatherings. This is a wonderful opportunity to get involved!
