A tapestry of architecture.

The 1860s Lawson Park Hotel, the 1930s Regent Theatre and a glimpse of the 1910s bell tower of St Marys Catholic Church. Mudgee’s streetscapes are rich with historic architecture.

The most common enterprise on Mudgee’s streets were pubs. There used to be nearly 40 hotels in Mudgee and its surrounds! That is a stark contrast to today, where we only have 7!

Discover the overlooked, unbelievable and forgotten history of Mudgee’s CBD on a tour this weekend. There are still spaces available for this Saturday and Sunday. Bookings can be made on the website.
Pictured is the beautiful St Paul’s Presbyterian Church, which was built in 1878. This magnificent church has a soaring copper steeple and massive stained glass windows. It also houses the organ that used to be in the Anglican Church. The windows were donated by many old Mudgee families in the late 19th century, including my own family!
