Gahh..guilty 😬😅

Trainers, trainers’ wives, grooms, assistants, barn managers, riders… the whole barn team — let’s talk about something we don’t talk about enough.

How do you deal with getting attached to the horses in your program?

Because they aren’t just stalls on a board or names on a training list. We spend countless hours with them. We learn their personalities, their quirks, their strengths, their challenges… we watch them grow, improve, and become better versions of themselves.

And then comes the day when they leave. 😭

We know this is part of the business. Horses come to us to be trained, shown, bought, sold, or eventually go home. But that doesn’t make the goodbye any easier when you’ve poured your time, energy, and heart into them.

So tell me…

How does your barn team handle the attachment?

Do you try not to get too attached?
Do you embrace the connection and accept that goodbyes are part of the job?
Or does the whole barn secretly have a meltdown when one of “your” horses leaves? 😂❤️

Trainers, wives, grooms, assistants, riders — I want to hear from ALL of you.

How do you handle loving them while knowing they’re not yours forever? 🐴❤️👇

We couldn't help but jump on this one - thanks Breakoday Quarter Horses for the inspiration!

We have mixed feelings about this one but are excited to see who Doc can take to the winners circle next!

A consistent major event finalist, Doc is a 2017 gelding by Sannman and out of Niners Lena Lynx. Competitive across the reined work, herd work and fence work Doc would be a great show horse for an up and coming trainer or competent non pro to continue to progress in the bridle-or go snaffle bit cutting and challenging.

2021 Goodiwindi Cutting Futurity Finalist
2022 ARCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity Finalist (Top 5)
2023 ARCHA Derby (Top 5)
2023 ARCHA Hackamore Classic Champion
2024 ARBC Australia’s Greatest Horseman Finalist (Top 10)
2025 ARCHA Australia’s Ultimate Cow Horse Finalist (Top 10)

We are also super proud of our littlest cowgirl Lily at the RHAA VIC State Show with her pony Lucy.

She competed in the Ranch Riding, Ranch on the Rail, Trail & Conformation and ended up High Point Green Youth 🌟

Most of all, she had the best time practicing with her pony in the lead up and riding around with friends! Reminds us all why we do it! 🥰
