Flicky from our Helloworld Travel Gympie team recently explored this South Australian gem on an AAT Kings famil — and came home with a suitcase full of stories.
🌊 The adventure kicked off with a twist: wild 10-metre swells meant the SeaLink ferry was cancelled. But nothing could stop the journey — the group flew in from Adelaide and swapped city buzz for island calm.
📍Day One:
Checked in at the charming Kangaroo Island Seafront in Penneshaw, with sweeping ocean views just steps from the ferry terminal.
📍Day Two:
Explored windswept cliffs at Cape Willoughby, learned the fascinating story of KI’s wool industry (run by 26 local families 🐑), and sipped craft beer made from rainwater at Kangaroo Island Brewery.
📍Day Three:
Nature took centre stage — from playful fur seals at Admirals Arch 🦭 to honey tastings and creamy honey ice cream at Island Beehive, home to the world’s purest Ligurian bees. Ended the day with wine tasting at The Islander Estate Vineyards overlooking the vines. 🍷
📍Day Four:
Final stop: the fragrant Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery, where 100% pure Aussie eucalyptus oil is still locally made. 🌿
From rugged coastlines and native wildlife to family-run farms and passionate producers, Kangaroo Island truly lives up to its name — remarkable.
