Check out the amazing night sky in Renmark. How lucky are your students on camp this week. There is so much to learn outside the classroom and this is why we value outdoor education so highly.

This is amazing news. First confirmed breeding of Murray Crayfish in South Australia in 40 years. This is some great news we all need at the moment with all the anxiety surrounding bird flu.

Murray crayfish breeding success! 🦞

The latest monitoring of Murray crayfish has officially confirmed the first breeding event in the South Australian Murray River in more than 40 years.

A capture of a female crayfish carrying eggs (known as a berried female), alongside a male in the same net, confirmed that breeding had occurred. Importantly, this observation was made before any berried females were released this year, meaning this is the first known breeding success from the reintroduced population.

While there was confidence the reintroduction reach would provide suitable habitat, this result is exciting evidence that conditions are supporting one of the species' most important life stages – reproduction.

After being virtually extinct in South Australia for decades, this is another encouraging sign that Murray crayfish are finding a future in the River Murray.

What a gorgeous sunrise on the Murray, Riverland, South Australia. This is why we love outdoor education so much. Taking students out of the classroom and giving them real outdoor experience. These students get the opportunity to better understand them selves as well as gain knowledge of the ecosystem surrounding them.
