Merriwa’s biggest weekend is almost here and there will be so much to see and do all throughout town and at the Showgrounds.

Spend the day wandering the huge range of market stalls lining the Main Street, grab something delicious to eat, enjoy live entertainment and soak up the atmosphere as the town comes alive for the long weekend.

Head to the Showgrounds to check out the incredible vintage and classic vehicle displays from the Black Sheep Streeters Car Club, Newcastle Restored Vehicle Club and Newcastle Military Vehicles. (And no… you still can’t drive the tank 😉)

Watch the exciting Yard Dog Competition and see talented working dogs and handlers in action, along with shearing demonstrations and a fantastic display of exotic and rare sheep breeds from studs travelling to Merriwa for the weekend.

Sit down with a coffee, have a chat with the owners of these amazing vehicles and exhibits, true labours of love with stories to match.

From the Grand Parade and market stalls to sheep, shearing, working dogs, vintage vehicles, food, entertainment and the crowd favourite Dog High Jump… there really is something for everyone at the Festival of the Fleeces ❤️

GET READY, GET SET, it's one of the biggest weekends of the year in as the Horse Capital of Australia swells for the Scone Racing Carnival on the 15th & 16th of May.

The Scone Race Club is expecting to welcome more than 7,000 racegoers over the two day carnival, which is celebrating its 80th year!

To mark the occasion, the club have completed major upgrades across fashion, facilities and hospitality amenities to elevate the experience for guests.

“We’ve made a real investment into the overall experience, from fashion and facilities through to new activations, to ensure this year’s Carnival delivers something special for everyone who attends.” - Jason Hill, CEO of Scone Race Club

Feature events include the $200,000 Arrowfield Scone Cup on Friday and Saturday's $250,000 Arrowfield Dark Jewel event, which is the only standalone country meeting in NSW.

The 2026 Tour d'Horse is now under way, running from 11–17 May in the Valley, NSW.

Each day 27 teams of riders, including an Olympian, media personality, and Melbourne Cup winning jockey, will ride out from Belltrees Station and clock up to 200 kilometres in the saddle over the week. It's all in an effort to raise money for the KIDS Foundation, which supports children and families impacted by injury and trauma.

🎭PERFORMANCE TONIGHT IN SCONE 🎭

Join independent artist, Danielle Brame Whiting, for a performance of her new work, FLAT PACK at the Old Court Theatre in Scone. Doors open at 6:45pm.

📖THE STORY:
Debbie's father has dementia and has been moved into care. It's fallen on her to pack up the lifetime of memories strewn across his garage. However, like a flat pack without instructions, before she can pack it all away and move on, she must first unpack all of her memories.
At the heart of this play is the relationship of a daughter and her ailing father, and one woman's reality of being the daughter of a Vietnam Veteran.
