🌱🎨NATURE STUDIO RETURNS THIS OCTOBER 🎨🌱

Our Nature Festival event brings the theme of SEED to life through a culturally grounded, place-based experience that nurtures learning, creativity, and connection.

Held within the Indigenous Garden at the Naracoorte National Trust, this event begins with a guided cultural walk and talk led by First Nations Elder Uncle Doug, who will share knowledge of native plants and their uses.

Participants will then take part in an art workshop led by Meintangk artist Tanya Hartman, whose work already shapes the space through her welcome mural and stepping stones. In this workshop, participants will respond to what they have seen and heard, translating their observations into expressive outcomes.

This event is part-funded through a Nature Festival regional micro-grant, generously supported by RAA and the Murraylands and Riverland Landscape Board.

📍Saturday 10 October | 10.00am - 3.00pm

🎟️This is a free community event, however spaces are limited. To register and for more details visit 👉 www.naturefestival.org.au/event/nature-studio-naracoorte

Local photographers to shine 📸

Art enthusiasts who visit the Naracoorte Regional Art Gallery have come to expect outstanding work on show from local photographers in their annual exhibition.

This year, the Captured Images Naracoorte Photography club will stage their 14th annual exhibition and their expected high standard and talent will not disappoint.

Opening on September 4 the club of 16 members will stage three or four photos each which they have taken in the past year. The group was formed in 2009 and still has three of its original members.

Tony Lees is the president and he said some members like to hone in on their interests such as birds, wildlife, landscape, portraiture or astro photography for their subject matter.

The group has several photography outings each year and recently members have been to the Murtoa Stick Shed north of Horsham and to Millicent on a macro photography expedition. Coming up, the group will travel to Halls Gap for photography opportunities.

The club meets monthly at the Art Gallery and members join at various levels of expertise.

“We’ve had people come wanting to learn more about their camera and those wanting to share their craft with others,” Mr Lees said.

Two exhibitions will open on the same night at the gallery with Naracoorte artist, Anne Emerson’s Eclecticism staged in the smaller Bainger Gallery.

Mrs Emerson, who is in her 80s is exhibiting her work in her first solo show. She has prepared 22 works in a variety of mediums including watercolour, acrylic, collage, pen, pencil and various types of printing.

Opening night is September 4 at 6pm and both exhibitions run until October 11.

The Naracoorte Art Gallery is open five days a week – Wednesday to Friday 10am to 4pm and weekends 10am to 3pm.
