WELCOME TO THE CREW

Thought it was about time we officially welcome Jordy to the Salty Pilgrims Team, as a Trip Host, Freediving Instructor and Spearfishing guide. Let’s give Jordy a warm welcome 🪸

Jordy brings so much knowledge and experience to the team, having been in the water since age 4, the ocean has truely shaped all aspects of her life since, I write this as she is currently living on a sailboat in Fiji ⛵️

She has been working as a commercial spearo for 5 years in NZ, studied Marine Science and is a diver for TV show South Sea Spearos - if you haven’t seen it yet, do yourself a favour and pull it up on YouTube!!

After completing her Molchanovs instructors course, Jordy is so passionate about helping people to experience how life changing freediving can be, as it has been for her.

She’s the ultimate hype woman, and you can be sure she’ll be right behind you helping you to pull a fish in or to collect your throw flashers 😉 Asides from all the knowledge she brings, she is such a caring and calming presence to be around in and out of the water.

Jordy, we’re over the moon for you to be part of the team and are so excited for all the trips to come.

2 days in on our Gili Trawangan freediving trip! Time and time again, we’re blown away by the amazing people that join us for a week of ocean shenanigans.

The conditions have been unreal and so much progression has already been made 🤘🏽

THIS energy is what spearfishing is all about! 🔥
Swipe to see the crew progressively get more excited to celebrate an awesome hunt, dive buddies swooping in from all directions for fist bumps and celebrations 😂

Seriously though, the Vermicular Coral trout are one of the smartest fish in the Pacific Islands (in Australia, not as much 😂) so the celebration is well deserved when someone lands one of these beautiful fish, as they usually require a deep and lengthy dive to successfully hunt!

We’ve got 2 spots left for our Fiji trip at the end of the month (April 30th) and a few left for our November trip here.
This isn’t one of those trips where you’ll feel like a tourist. This is a trip for those wanting to fully immerse themselves in the most untouched parts of Fiji, while still having the comforts of a private beachfront villa to relax at in the evenings.

We will be teaching freediving courses, spearfishing workshops, there will be days of guided spearfishing and trips to remote reefs & patrols, catch & cook island style, visiting a Fijian village, and heading to the most beautiful waterfall we’ve ever seen (on the day off from diving).

Wow, what a special weekend it was teaching these incredible people how to freedive.

We had scuba divers, ocean swimmers and surfers all come together to step out of their comfort zones and learn to freedive. Learning a new skill as an adult is challenging. It’s confronting, it’s raw, it’s uncomfortable.

They overcame obstacles throughout the weekend, learned how to surrender to the ocean and their breath even more than what they already knew, and some pretty incredible things happened stepping outside of their comfort zones.

Thank you all for such a special weekend, we can’t wait to dive with you again!
