Loving how Facebook reminds us of the adventures we once had!

This was 8years ago and we were in Africa.
The staff at the lodge had been telling us about their afternoon soccer match against another nearby lodge. As we finished our afternoon Safari drive, we stopped to show our support ⚽️

G&T’s in hand, cheering from the sideline.
Dusty, as the sun set in the distance.

From memory there was no winner as once the sun set there was no lt enough light to continue on 😂
It signaled the end of the game, and it was back to the lodge for dinner and drinks.

Its these little unplanned moments that bring back the best memories 🫶🏼

Our upcoming Africa tours are all sold out, but we are planning Botswana and Zambia in 2029… it’s never too early to put your name down.

3 years ago! Time flies doesn’t it 🫶🏼

This time three years ago we were eating and drinking wayyy too much through Spain; almost ready to EMBARK on our Camino journey 🥾

Meet your 2027 (and beyond!) tour hosts 🫶🏼
With over 10 departures from Newcastle next year, I’m so pleased to introduce this wonderful team of ladies to you all.

Some you will know and might have even travelled with; others, you might be meeting for the first time. What I do know, is that you are bound to embark on an amazing adventure with any of these women - full of laughs and wow moments, creating memories to last a lifetime.

On the far right, Helen has hosted many tours over the years and is affectionately known as Mamma Duck to many of the ladies that travel with us.

Toni (not in beige, black or navy 😂) has been on upwards of 16 tours and has moved into a hosting role. Being a former ED Nurse is an exceptional skill to have been travelling around the world!

In the middle and on the left, meet Susie and Helen! Only a handful of you have been fortunate enough to travel with Susie and Helen so far … and if you have, I’m sure you will agree, they are a hoot!!! They will both be stepping into a hosting role next year with Embark but have DECADES of experience in the travel industry. From representing airlines, to luxury river cruise companies - they have the travel background and experience to host you on a great adventure.

And we’ll then there is me (michelle) of course in black 😂

National Park #3 📍The Grand Canyon

You might have seen on the news there was some flash flooding at the Grand Canyon last week. While it was right down in the bottom of the canyon, it did end up affecting our stay.

The flooding damaged the water pipes, which meant ALL accommodations inside the park have to close for a few weeks. But some quick thinking, a new plan - and instead of the El Tovar, we were just down the road (only a few minutes from the park entrance).

Lucky for us, the park was still open and we made the most of it.

Our first WOW sunset of the trip and those first views of the canyon definitely make your jaw drop.

Some of the ladies took to the air for a Birds Eye view of just how big the canyon really is! And then before leaving, we drove the scenic loop stopping at the best photo stops.

This stop quickly went to the ‘best’ for some, but we all agree- it’s too hard to pick a favourite! All the parks we are visiting are so very different, and they are all amazing.

A couple of words to describe our second National Park …. Dry, Hot, Extreme!!!

The locals kept saying how good the weather was for our visit (we only hit 104 Fahrenheit…and they can have continuous days in the high 50 degree Celsius). But honestly, sometimes going outside felt like you’d popped your head in the oven door to check if the roast was done 😂😅🔥

The scenery here was stunning though. We avoided any hikes, but instead did the scenic drives, vista points and photo stops. Around each bend, a new landscape as far as the eye could see.

You won’t be surprised that this type of landscape is where some of the Star Wars movies were filmed!

We got to 282 feet BELOW sea level in the ‘Badlands’ and then the mountains surrounding - you are 11,000 ABOVE sea level… a place of extremes.

This was a pretty cool place to visit on our epic American road trip! What do you think of our ‘deathly’ photo at the entrance to the park 😂🤔

Our first National Park certainly didn’t disappoint! YOSEMITE 🐻🪾⛰️

We had two nights nearby, which meant we could spend the FULL day in the Park with our guide Barb.

Two of us had been to Yosemite before but we visited brand new spots that none of us had seen before.

Glacier Point and Tunnel View were simply spectacular. We saw a little water off Bridalfalls, but the main Yosemite Falls has just run dry due to such a hot summer. It didn’t dampen our day though - we were so lucky as it was fairly quiet in the park. Babe took us to Cathedral Beach where we had the most spectacular views for our picnic lunch (we even had a coyote go by!! 😳).

Barb has an avid hiker and climber, who had climbed half dome more than once - so it was great to hear her stories about the park.

We finished up our day seeing a group of climbers at El Capitan almost summit - which was amazing; but we all agree - no thank you! We are happy to keep our feet safely on the ground.

Many more national parks to come! It certainly is the great outdoors!!

Our Indian Pacific + Perth trip has just returned home and seeing these warm, beautiful messages has just put the biggest smile on my face.
