The Blood Moon is Back! Clear your calendars and set your alarms because on 8th September 2025, the Moon is going red across Australia & New Zealand.

The Moon is slipping into Earth’s shadow, turning that gorgeous deep red we all love. Here’s when you need to be outside:

Melbourne (8th September 2025):
1:28 am – Penumbral Eclipse begins (the Moon’s getting a subtle shadow makeover).
2:27 am – Partial Eclipse begins (the β€œred carpet” starts to roll).
3:30 am – Total Eclipse begins (Blood Moon in all her glory).
4:11 am – Maximum Eclipse (dead centre in Earth’s shadow).
4:52 am – Total Eclipse ends.
5:56 am – Partial Eclipse ends.
6:39 am – Moonset

Wellington (8th September 2025):
3:28 am – Penumbral Eclipse begins.
4:27 am – Partial Eclipse begins.
5:30 am – Total Eclipse begins (Blood Moon AND near the horizon β€” look west!).
6:11 am – Maximum Eclipse.
6:40 am – Moonset.

Hobart (8th September 2025):
1:28 am – Penumbral Eclipse begins.
2:27 am – Partial Eclipse begins.
3:30 am – Total Eclipse begins.
4:11 am – Maximum Eclipse.
