I just finished making a tana/tenaku Indigenous Karen traditional harp.
Quite a lot of Karen people from Burma have settled down Nhill in Victoria.
I decided to make it and donate it to the local Karen community when I visited the Karen museum here in Nhill last November.

Making tribal musical instruments was sort of challenging because there are no blue-prints or spec sheets.
Traditionally it has between 6 to 9 strings but I put 15 strings on mine, so then players can play not only Karen traditional music but also different types of music if they want.

I hope that this helps the community appreciate and celebrate the unique Karen musical culture.

Scale is "Notes Staircase" in Japanese so I made it. This helps me to enjoy learning music theory better.

How many musicians know that Japan has a mass production violin factory? I visited Japan 2 years ago and brought back with me a violin made in the Ena violin workshop and I have been playing it since then. It's pretty reliable in any occasion such as really hot summer here Australia as well as wet winter even outside. The Ena violin workshop has been running for 60 years and dedicated to making instruments. More information is available at tatsunoya.co.jp.
