Australiaโs biggest private space telescope was unveiled in South Australia this week. ๐
A $1.3 million telescope has been unveiled at the Swan Reach Observatory in the River Murray International Dark Sky Reserve.
Professor Don Bursill, former Chief Scientist for South Australia (2011-2014) has been involved in the project and told 891 ABC Radio Adelaideโs Spence Denny he hopes the 3-metre-tall telescope will help research and education in the state.
โItโs a high-tech research machine and it would be the best telescope certainly in South Australia with the visual wavelengths and we are hoping to collaborate with academic and relevant institutions and do some research and promote it with education systems as well,โ he said.
โItโs an asset for the community, and it does open up for scientific work, education and discoveries in the universe.โ
