🐝 The festival is almost here.

A SMALL CREATURE. AN ESSENTIAL ROLE.

Across forests, farms and gardens, bees carry pollen from flower to flower. In doing so, they help plants reproduce, provide food for other species and contribute to much of the food we grow.

Their innate nature is to work pollinating the environment, each bee playing its part, contributing to the life of the colony and the land around it.

This October, follow their story through the Southern Forests.

Meet 12 speakers exploring pollination, ecology and beekeeping. Wander among 50 market stalls, and enjoy the honey tasting (and more) and w**e tasting **es_canopy . Visit the Bee Photo Exhibition. Taste the Honey Cake Bake Off. Bring the family for live music, native bee hotel building and free children’s activities .

PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOPS AND FLORA TAG ALONG TOURS ON THIS WEEKEND 9-11 OCTOBER IN NORTHCLIFFE

On Saturday with have Sophie Xiang leading a wildflower phone photography workshop and on Sunday Beth Baker will share her tips for macro flora photography. Plus we will spend lots of time with local guides exploring the local forests looking at our unique flora, frogs, bugs and blooms. Bookings are essential.

Earth Emotions’ combines a deeply moving program of music with spoken word to reveal a path from disconnection to connection with nature, instilling hope for a better future. The performance features incredible compositions performed by the Bowerbird Collective, with Simone Slattery on violin, Anthony Albrecht on cello and narration by environmental philosopher, Prof. Glenn Albrecht, making a return to his home state of WA.

The Bicentennial Tree will be temporarily closed from 21 September to the end of November 2026 while specialist crews carry out repegging works and installation of climbing pegs and new ladder sidewall mesh, an exciting milestone in the ongoing upgrade of this iconic attraction.

In the meanwhile DPAW have given us an artists impression of how the upgraded structure will look. We can't wait to see the finished upgrade with our own eyes, the impression looks amazing!

𝗧𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗲

The Bicentennial Tree will be temporarily closed from 21 September to the end of November 2026 while specialist crews carry out repegging works and installation of climbing pegs and new ladder sidewall mesh, an exciting milestone in the ongoing upgrade of this iconic attraction.

To allow these works to be completed safely, the entire Bicentennial Tree site will be closed until 2 October 2026. From 3 October, the site will reopen to visitors, with only the Bicentennial Tree remaining closed through to the end of November while work continues.
Visitors can still enjoy many of the site's other facilities while the tree is closed for climbing, including the picnic and BBQ area, shelter, walking trails and public toilets.

These works will help support future improvements, including plans for the upper canopy structure currently being designed as part of the project.

Looking for a treetop adventure in the meantime? The Gloucester Tree is open and ready to welcome visitors, complete with its stunning new lookout platform that reopened in June 2026.

While you're in the area, there's plenty more to explore, from the spectacular Warren National Park, mountain biking trails at the Pemberton Arboretum and Aerial Adventure Pemberton ropes course in Gloucester National Park.

Southern Forests & Valleys Rainbow Rides
4 - 6 October 2026 | Balingup, Bridgetown & Pemberton

Get on your bike and join the fun as the Southern Forests & Valleys Rainbow Rides bring three free community cycling events to Balingup, Bridgetown and Pemberton in the lead-up to the 2026 UCI Gravel World Championships in Nannup.

Designed for families, locals and visitors, the Rainbow Rides are about much more than cycling. Each event will combine a relaxed community gravel ride with a lively Event Village featuring kids’ bike activities, face painting, entertainment, local food and community activities, creating plenty to see and do even for those who aren’t taking part in the ride.

The three community events will be held across the Southern Forests & Valleys:

Balingup: Sunday 4 October 2026: 9am–12noon, with a 14km community ride commencing at 10am.
Bridgetown: Monday 5 October 2026: 9am–12noon, with 15km & 8km community rides commencing at 10am.
Pemberton: Tuesday 6 October 2026: 2pm–5pm, with a 15km community ride commencing at 3pm.

The events are FREE, however registration is preferred.
