- Peaceful nights ideal for photography, relaxation, and reconnecting with nature
- Uninterrupted horizons that make the Milky Way shine bright

Pack a blanket, grab your camera, and head out for a night under the stars. You'll be amazed at what you can see when the sky is truly dark.

Nyngan's Royal Visit - Honouring the 1920 visit of Edward, Prince of Wales

on August 10 1920, Nyngan experienced one of the most significant moments in its early 20th-century history when Edward, the Prince of Wales later King Edward VIII) visited the district during his Australian tour. His itinerary brought him deep into the outback, where he stayed at Miowera Station and spent time with local bushmen and shearers, gaining a firsthand look at life on western NSW stations.

👑 A Royal Arrival
The Prince rode 15 miles from Miowera Station toward Nyngan, accompanied by staff including his cousin Lieutenant Lord Louis Mountbatten. Half a mile from town, he was met by an impressive es**rt of local horseman - a proud display of horsemanship and community spirit. A large enthusiastic crowd gathered to welcome him, marking the occasion as one of the biggest public turnouts in Nyngan's early history.

👑 Laying the Soldiers' Memorial Stone
During his visit, HRH laid the foundation stone for the Nyngan Soldiers' Memorial, dedicated to the fallen soldiers of the town and district. This act cemented the visit as not only ceremonial but deeply meaningful, connecting Nyngan's wartime sacrifices with national recognition.

👑 Life at Miowera Station
The Prince's stay at Miowera offered a rare moment of connection between royalty and the outback. with HRH meeting station hands, watching rough riders, and spending time with the people who shaped the regions pastoral heritage.

📜 Today, the 1920 Royal Visit remains a treasured chapter in Nyngan's heritage - a day when the outback welcomed royalty, and our community's resilience and service were honoured on a national stage.
