Our amazing hiking holiday in Slovenia is now over but what a great adventure we had!

Days 4 onwards - we travelled by train and hiked over The Karst Plateau (known as Kras in Slovene) - a rocky limestone region in southwestern Slovenia and northeastern Italy. The region is also Slovenia's smallest w**e district, home to more than 170 producers clustered along the Kras W**e Road and my group took advantage of visiting local w**eries 🍷🍷

Our accommodation at Hotel St. Daniel in HRUŠEVICA was a highlight and 1/2 of my group opted for a day of wellness and relaxing at the onsite wellness centre in lieu of hiking on day 6. That's the beauty of my walking itineraries - walk as much or as little as you like.

Our last day started with a short hike through Skocjan Caves and then we walked into the beautiful seaside town of Piran.

A week well spent with over 100kms walked through the most stunning varied landscape, with excellent company, delicous food and w**e, perfect accommodation and lots of laughs along the way. Walking holidays really are food for the soul 💙💚

DAY 1 Ovsiše to Radovljica.

Ljubljana old town is pedestrian only so perfect for exploring on foot and there's no smelly vehicle exhaust fumes!

Ljubljana castle 🏰 overlooking the city is a 10 minute hike up hill or if you don't fancy walking you can take the funicular.

After my visit to the castle I went in search of the Ljubljana coffee ☕️ festival but instead found the Slovenian Olympics for kids 😀

A long but hassle free journey to Ljubljana via Singapore and Munich. Definitely helps being able to lay flat and sleep on the ✈️ No need stress needed over the 1 hour connection at Munich airport; I completed passport control and train transfer between terminals in less than 30 minutes. Arrived into Ljubljana way too early for check in, so walked the beautiful city until my room was ready. What a lovely place 😍 Compact with cobbled streets and bridges, original architecture and a fairytale castle looking over the city. Feels like I've stepped back in time....apart from the many men wearing kilts and football t-shirts (must be a footy game on in town?)
