🏕️✨ Explore History at the Glen Arte Timber Fallers Hut ✨🏕️

Rebuilt after the devastating January 2020 fires, this replica preserves the story of the Glen Arte Timber Fallers Hut, the last remaining structure from the Smith Brothers Logging Camp at Jungle Hill. Originally built in the 1950s, the hut served as a base for timber workers, saving them the long trip back to Orbost each day.

🔸 Fun Fact: The hut was built on skids so it could be dragged between logging coupes by dozer drivers—a true testament to ingenuity!

Today, it's part of the Back Roads Tours maps, offering visitors a glimpse into the region's history. It’s a side trip on the Murrungowar Errinundra Loop, making it a must-visit for those exploring the area.

📍 Stop by the hut to grab your map and step back in time.

If you’re chasing spectacular coastal views, the East Cape Boardwalk is hard to beat.

Starting at Sailors Grave in the East Cape Day Visitor Area, this 2.2km walk takes you along a mix of raised boardwalk, beaches, rocks and coastal tracks, winding its way toward Cowrie Bay and Joiners Channel.

Expect stunning ocean views the whole way, with sandy beaches and rock pools to explore and banksia woodlands. .

🐾 Keep an eye out for wildlife along the way

⚠️ This is not an easy walk
⚠️ Access to the boardwalk requires some rock hopping to start

🌿 Choof Choof Camping & Picnic Area 🌿

If you’re chasing a quiet, no-fuss camping spot by the water — this little hidden gem is worth the trip 👇

Set on a peaceful backwater of the Cann River near Lake Furnell, Choof Choof is a small, free riverside campground tucked away in Tamboon State Forest. It’s the kind of place where you can slow right down, throw a line in, or just enjoy the sounds of nature.

🎣 What you’ll find:
• One main campsite (first come, first served — no bookings)
• Toilet
• Picnic tables
• Central fireplace
• Easy access to fishing, canoeing & boating

🚤 Boats can be launched nearby at Furnell Landing, and there’s a 2.4km return walking track linking the campground and landing — a great way to explore the area.

🚗 Getting there:
From Cann River, head south along Tamboon Road (sealed for 15km, then gravel). Turn onto Choof Choof Track and follow it to the campground.

💡 Fun fact: The name “Choof Choof” is said to come from the sound of old fishing boat engines that once worked the inlet 🚤
