Sometimes the road to Permanent Residency is a roller coaster, but a mix of strategic pivoting, quick thinking, and true teamwork gets the job done.
Here is an incredible story of a client who just received her Subclass 189 (Skilled Independent) Visa today!

Our client was initially thrilled to receive an invitation for a 491 Regional Visa. She was happy to accept it and take the regional route. However, in November 2025, luck swung her way, and she received an invitation for the 189 PR Visa!
We knew we had to act fast. If her 491 visa was granted first, section 4F of the Migration Regulations would lock her out of applying for the 189. We lodged the 189 application ASAP.

To secure the 189, we prepared Form 1446 to withdraw the pending 491 application. The client signed it, and we had everything ready to go.
But letโs be completely transparent: we missed uploading the withdrawal form.
Usually, 491 processing times can take up to 1.5 years. But in a bizarre twist of speed, the Department granted her 491 visa within just 6 months! Suddenly, the clock was ticking, the 189 was still pending, and the intense stress of moving to a regional area overnight began.
