𝗔 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗪𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘆 𝗪𝗜𝗟𝗗𝗹𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 🌿✨

For three years, we have wandered the Southern Forests together, teaching our children that they are capable, resourceful, and deeply connected to the earth. We’ve built shelters to weather the storms and lit fires to keep the cold at bay.

Now, the "weather" is changing for all of us. Between the rising cost of living and the pressures of modern life, the storms aren't just in the forest - they are at our front doors.

While WILD Ones Forest School has officially 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 to allow me to focus on my family, and carer duties, the mission to foster resilience hasn't ended. It has simply evolved.

I am so excited to invite you to join me at 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗩𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗴𝗲.

Just as we taught our children to navigate the bush with a compass and a steady hand, the Resilience Village is an online community designed to help families navigate the financial, societal and emotional landscape of 2026 and beyond.

In her recent article for The West Australian, Kelsie explores the upcoming social media age restriction, and the reality that, while it may be a positive step, it’s only part of the solution.

If we want young people to thrive, we need to create more real, inclusive opportunities for them to connect, play and belong – outside of school and competitive sport.

As Kelsie writes, “Social media and technology are not the entire issue. We need to be honest about the fact that many young people don’t feel like they have opportunities to actively participate and connect with others in their community.”

Welcome to term 4! We started off the week with our NEW nature play session for under 5's yesterday. Followed by a 2hr afternoon session.
Today we spent 4 hours climbing, playing, hugging trees and drawing nature.

It's the last week of term today and we are going over everyone favourite things. By far this term it's been wet bush walks and playing in streams and creeks.

Knife skills still remains one of the most favourite things to do during a session.

Be it at forest school or during a family bush skills hike, people of all ages love learning how to use a knife appropriately and create something to take home with them.

New Session Announcement: WILD Ones Nature Play!

Get ready, Bridgetown families! 🌿 We are so excited to start this session in Term 4, designed especially for our littlest adventurers.

WILD Ones Nature Play is a just like our Forest School session but tailored for young families who love to explore, create, and play in outside! Join us for a morning of getting a little wild and a lot of messy. This isn't your typical "playgroup" - it's a chance for children aged 5 and under to thrive in an unstructured, immersive outdoor setting.

What can you expect?
✨ Risky Play: Encourage curiosity and confidence in a safe, wild environment.
🌳 Creative Exploration: Watch your child get their hands dirty and connect with the natural world.
🌧️ All-Weather Fun: We play rain or shine, embracing the seasonal changes in the bush!

This is a stay-and-play session, making it a wonderful way to connect with other families while your little ones explore.

Session Details:

When: Monday mornings, 9:30 am - 11:30 am
Where: Bridgetown
Who: Families with children aged 12 months and older (siblings under 1 year attend free).

We had such a great time building hubbies this week as well as creating colours with natural dyes.

Today we completed a wonderful hike in the Gloucester National Park. An easy one hour loop surrounded by tall trees, river and birds.

A perfect way to spend a morning in the WILD.

Winter isn't over yet with lots of rain today. We kept busy making things from natural materials, dying material and making plans for spring growing.

Forest school, is outside rain or shine and the kids (and us) just love it!

A different kind of WILD! This weekend we ventured into history at the Balingup Medieval Carnivale
Celebrating its 30th year, this event is a must visit for anyone interested in traditional skills, hand made and of course medieval.

We got hands on making cordage and pottery, fired cross bows and learned circus skills. We saw a real life old village with food cooked over the fire. We also saw sword fighting and the buring of the dragon.

What was pleasant to see was how many MAKERS were there. Stalls were full of real crafters and producers.

Well done to the festival committee. We will see you again next year.
