It feels like your walking amongst a coral reef on land, ancient tombstones, a petrified forest, dinosaurs dropping’s, it may even be an alien’s map I’ve heard every possible explanation for the Pinnacle desert over the past 20yrs & yet it’s still as mysterious now as it was the first time I drove into the desert! Contrasts of salty pink pastels, at the striking Rose de Freycinet pink lake on Dirk Hartog Island. Not only a spectacular sight, its name holds a historic Love Story as Rose was the wife of the French explorer, Louis de Freycinet. Rose famously stowed away on the ship as her husband took on his World-wide voyage, as she could not bear being apart from him. It’s believed Rose was the first woman to circumnavigate the World by boat.

A Magical time of the year as our turtles return to their breeding and nesting grounds. From the remote safety on Dirk Hartog Island expansive beaches along the Ningaloo, the protection of the Mackerel Islands or even the coast of Port Headland. These regions transform into turtle mating, nesting and hatching hubs until late April. It is recommended that if you want to visit or view this natural wonder you follow the turtle watches code of conduct or jump on a eco-educational night tour run by park rangers. 📷

A Magical time in our North West ✨ from October we start to see our Turtles returning to their breeding & nesting grounds, they are protected from the crowds on the remote Dirk Hartog & Mackerel Islands but our Ningaloo Coast is seeing larger numbers of people visiting these significant beaches. If you’re choosing to visit these locations please educate your self on your impact, it’s highly recommended that you join an eco-educational night tour led by a Park Ranger, So you can Explore the nesting and hatching grounds under the expert guidance of those trained & dedicated in preserving this natural wonder. 📷
