The Raffles Sentosa (Sentosa Island Singapore).
Sentosa island is connected to Singapore via a bridge. An easy 30 min drive from the Airport

Although I was staying next door at the Capella Sentosa, I made an appointment to inspect the (new) Raffles hotel. The property has 65 villas and 67 pools. Every villa has a pool

The Raffles said they would send a car to pick me up (from next door). Their Rolls Royce was a lovely treat

It is a great property and each villa is very private. A buggy is available to drive you around as it is a large sprawling property.
All villa pools were quite large and generous, and there is a couple main pools for families/friends that want to meet up as well.

Exquisite dining options too.

The Capella Sentosa (Sentosa Island, Singapore)
Absolutely exquisite hotel (Leading Hotels of the World).
I stayed in a One Bedroom Villa with plunge pool. The villa was enormous, separate lounge, separate bedroom, huge ensuite with indoor and outdoor shower & bath.
They have buggy carts on call to take you around the property. The main pool (3 of them) are at different levels of the hillside. An easy walk to a clean and calm beach.
Meals at Fiamma Restaurant were wonderful
Guests are invited to visit The Living Room for complimentary Afternoon tea daily from 3-5pm

Wonderful trip to Singapore recently, the first time I stayed on Sentosa Island in a long time.
While inspecting the new Raffles hotel Sentosa, I was thrilled to take this shot. There are wild peacocks that come and go.
The hotel preserved four magnificent Heritage trees when building the resort, they are 150+ years old, this is one of them

Happy birthday Sir David Attenborough (99)
I wonder how he will spend this magical day.

When I came across this little creature trying to cross the road on a winter’s day I had to intervene. Traffic was not going to stop for it and I was on foot. I‘d never seen anything like it, and oh those eyes.
I later found out it was an Elephant-hawk moth. It had this long trunk which extended out of it’s face but which contracted while crawling. And the eyes were not it’s eyes, but natures defence for survival.

I squatted down and rested it on my denim jeans thinking the blue background would photograph well but it’s body started to vibrate and all its ‘feet’ started to dig in as though it was going to start to spin its cocoon right there on my knee! So I quickly found a shrub for this pic and left it hoping the ‘other side of the road’ was not so desirable now.

I’m hopeful I will see another one of these one day, always tickled by the unexpected magic life shows us 💚 Monika

This is the Eastern and Oriental Express.
Absolutely stunning train. A big thank you to my clients who just returned from a 3night 'Wild Malaysia' journey and shared these photos.
The train departed from and returned to Singapore. As a Belmond train, every detail was arranged meticulously including transfers, off train sightseeing and meals and drinks

As a travel advisor, I get invited to do an inspection of most cruise ships that pass through Fremantle. It involves a lot of planning by the cruise line to line it all up with immigration as we are usually on board for maximum four hours.
This is the MSC Magnifica on her World cruise.

Couple remaining pics from the Caribbean

Meet Seabob… the incredible sea scooter that will pull you through the water with an accelerator button on the hand grip. You can also dive under the water which was my favourite experience 💙
Of course I had to find a bird to photograph. Not a lot of birds I must say. This hummingbird is the Colibre Huppe. Spikey feathers on his head. While at the botanical garden on Guadeloupe I found the diagram of the bird which was handy
