This National Reconciliation Week, staff across all sites have been coming together to reflect, learn and engage in the journey of reconciliation, with both in-person and online participation throughout the week.
Our Aboriginal Advisory Group, Board, and staff representatives attended the National Reconciliation Week Breakfast in Boorloo, with many of our team tuning in online. The morning included an amazing breakfast followed by empowering speeches and powerful truth-telling, highlighting the importance of connection, understanding and walking together. The team was especially inspired by Narelda Jacobs, whose words left a lasting impact.
Staff also attended the Aboriginal Veterans Service “We Will Remember Them” event in recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander veterans and their service to our country. It was a meaningful and moving event filled with reflection, respect and remembrance. A very special moment was witnessing one of our team members lay a wreath in honour of her grandfather, paying tribute to his service and legacy.
Our team also attended a Sorry Day event hosted by Yokai Healing Our Spirit and Bringing Them Home, including a Welcome to Country, Smoking Ceremony and a moment of silence at the Stolen Generations Memorial.
This year’s theme, “All In for Reconciliation,” reminds us that reconciliation is everyone’s responsibility and meaningful change happens when we all come together and play our part.
