The award is named after Steven Tynan and Damian Eyre who were two young constables murdered in South Yarra (Vic) in 1988.

The setup at Owers’ Corner was somewhat different in October 1942, compared to crossing under the arches today.
The 2/6th Field Company constructed this flying fox to transport supplies down the steep hill to Goldie River, before they were sent up the Track.
Engineers = somewhat unheralded.

A nearly starved Japanese soldier captured during the Australian advance, October 1942, in the vicinity of Nauro.
At this stage of the campaign, the Japanese soldier was down to 150-300gm of rice per day.
Autopsies of their soldiers indicated they were resorting to eating bark and leaves.
Lack of supply was one factor, among many, in halting their final assault on Port Moresby.
