1. Nidarosdomen. The Nidaras Cathedral was built over the grave of St. Olav, Norway's patron saint, and is Norway's national sanctuary. In addition to this, the cathedral is an incredibly beautiful edifice, and a great treat for both the eyes and mind.
2. Old Town Bridge. The Old Town Bridge is one of Trondheim's most distinctive characteristics. The bridge was originally constructed in 1681, although the current one was built in 1861. The lovely bridge is also known as “ The Portal of Happiness”.
3. Rockheim. Rockheim is Norway's national museum of popular music. Here you can follow the journey of contemporary Norwegian music history, and join in on a bunch of musical activities. In Rockheims Hall of Fame you´ll also find great Norwegian musicians and heroes, such as A-Ha, Alf Prøysen, Wenche Myhre, Åge Alexandersen, Jahn and Inger Lise Rypdal.
4. Ringve Museum. Ringve Museum is Norway's national museum for music and musical instruments. The museum is located in one of the old summer residences at Lade in Trondheim, and is set in gorgeous surroundings. A beautiful botanical garden of 130 acres encircles the Museum, which is worth a visit.
5. Kristiansten Fortress. This is a superb place to watch the sunset, whilst the fortress offers a unique view. The castle was built between 1682 and 1684, and offers a lot of interesting history. 6. Tyholt årnet. This is also a lovely viewpoint. From the top of the tower you can see the entire city of Trondheim, and there is also a tasty restaurant at the top of the tower.
7. Munkholmen. Munkholmen is a small island located two kilometers outside downtown Trondheim. Here you can swim, sunbathe and enjoy picnics in the summer time. The island has previously served as a prison and monastery, but is now only used as a recreational area.
8. Pirbadet. Trondheim houses Norway´s largest indoor waterpark, which is full of fun for the children – and perhaps more importantly, for the grown ups as well.
9. Archbishop's Palace. The oldest existing profane stone building in Norway is definitely worth a visit, whether you are interested in history or not. The oldest parts of the farm goes back to the early Medieval Times. .
10. Trondheim Science Museum. This is a popular science center which seeks to trigger curiosity and eagerness among children and adolescents. This is the place to be for future scientists!
