🏔️ Tajikistan is for travellers who are drawn to mountain roads, high passes and places that still feel well away from the usual routes.
The Pamir Highway is one of the big reasons to look at Tajikistan, winding through rugged mountains, wide plateaus and remote villages where daily life has carried on much the same way for generations. Dushanbe gives a different introduction, with Rudaki Park, the Statue of Ismoil Somoni and the National Museum of Antiquities, home to a 13-metre-long sleeping Buddha.
Further into the country, the Fann Mountains bring alpine lakes, walking trails and places such as the Seven Lakes and Iskanderkul, while Penjikent, Sarazm, Hissar Fort and Khujand connect Tajikistan back to its Silk Road and ancient history. Add in mountain homestays, Navruz celebrations and the warmth of local family life, and Tajikistan starts to feel like one of Central Asia’s most rewarding places to explore.
