🌷 The tulips have arrived! 🌷

Spring has officially sprung in the Perth Hills, and this weekend marks the opening of one of the most spectacular springtime experiences, Yates Springtime at Araluen 2026 Tulip Festival! 🌸

Wander through 250,000 tulips and 50,000 spring bulbs, including daffodils, hyacinths, iris, jonquils and liliums, alongside Araluen's internationally recognised camellia collection and heritage roses 🌷🌿

The season is expected to last longer this year, but peak blooms won't last forever, so if you've been waiting for your springtime flower fix, this is your sign! 👀📸

What if your favourite walk felt different every time you returned? 🌿 The beauty of the Perth Hills isn't just found in the places themselves, but in how they change throughout the year.

Winter rain brings flowing creeks and tumbling waterfalls. As Djilba unfolds, the first wildflowers begin to emerge, birds become more active and fresh growth transforms the forest floor. Before long, another season arrives, revealing a whole new side of the landscape.

Little legs often notice the biggest things. 🌿👣

As many parents know, a family walk isn't about getting to the finish line as quickly as possible. It's about slowing down, asking questions and discovering the little moments you might otherwise miss.

Before setting off, here are a few simple ways to make your next adventure a little easier:

✔️ Check the weather and trail conditions before you leave.
✔️ Wear sturdy shoes and dress for the season, especially after winter rain.
✔️ Pack plenty of water, snacks and a spare change of clothes for little explorers.
✔️ Allow extra time for stops, nature play and curious detours.
✔️ Encourage children to look and listen for birds, flowing creeks, budding wildflowers and other signs that the season is changing.

Every visit to the trails offers something new to notice. Slow the pace, let curiosity lead the way and enjoy making memories together in nature.

Some of the best days out are the simplest ones! We've got your weekend plans sorted! 🌿

There's no rush here. Just winding forest trails, the sound of flowing water, towering jarrah and marri trees, and plenty of little discoveries waiting along the way.

Start your morning with breakfast and coffee at The Shed at Raeburn Orchards, then head to Roley Pools Reserve (Djarlgarro/Canning River) Heritage Walk Trail, where four walking routes invite you to wander at your own pace. Cross timber boardwalks, follow winter creeks through the forest and keep an eye out for native birdlife, budding wildflowers and the seasonal changes that make every visit feel a little different.

When it's time for lunch, take your pick from one of the region's welcoming cafés and restaurants, including Seven Sins Perth Hills, Brook 508 Café & Restaurant, The Last Drop Elizabethan, Blue Sky Bakery, Orchard Espresso or Cozi Corner Book Café.

If you're not quite ready to head home, spend the afternoon wandering through Araluen Botanic Park or finish the day with sweeping views across Canning Dam.

Sometimes the best memories are made close to home. All you need is good company, a sense of adventure and a little curiosity about what you'll notice along the trail.

Spring is just around the corner. Which means It's Yates Springtime at Araluen 2026 Tulip Festival is nearly here! 🌷

From 4 September, Araluen Botanic Park will once again transform into a spectacular sea of colour, with more than 250,000 tulips and 50,000 spring bulbs blooming throughout the valley.

Wander amongst vibrant displays of tulips, daffodils, hyacinths, iris, jonquils and more, all set against the stunning natural backdrop of the Perth Hills.

No two visits to the Perth Hills are ever quite the same! That's the beauty of experiencing the landscape through the Whadjuk Noongar Six Seasons. As the waterways, wildlife and bushland change throughout the year, each trail offers something new to notice every time you return.

If you're looking for inspiration for your next day outdoors, here are six walks worth adding to your list:

🌿 Roley Pools Reserve (Djarlgarro/Canning River) - Heritage Walk Trail
Follow flowing creeks through towering jarrah and marri forest, crossing boardwalks and discovering seasonal waterfalls along the way.

🦢 Forrestdale Lake Nature Reserve
A peaceful wetlands walk where changing water levels attract an incredible variety of birdlife throughout the year.

🌳 Armadale Settlers Common
Wander beneath an open forest canopy, past granite outcrops and seasonal creek lines, while keeping an eye out for kangaroos, quendas and black cockatoos.

🌼 Bungendore Park - Honeyeater Trail

There's something special about warming up after a morning spent exploring the Perth Hills. After a crisp winter morning on the trails, there's nothing better than finding a cosy spot to slow down, warm up and share a meal.

Start the day with coffee at The Shed at Raeburn Orchards, settle in for a long lunch at Naked Apple Cider House, or finish your adventure with something warm at Chalet Healy Café after wandering through Araluen Botanic Park.
