The invasion of the screaming crows - 2025
Is anyone else sick of the screaming Crows? Has anyone else noticed how many there are now? The stress caused by the noise that the huge number of these Australian Ravens continually make, is affecting the quality of life in suburbia.
There is currently an overpopulation of the raven in WA, which has now become the dominant bird species in suburbia They are everywhere, and they make so much noise we can no longer hear the rest of the world. They have displaced the Magpie and are on the way to doing the same to many more bird species. The raven preys on the eggs and hatchlings of other birds and snatches baby w***y wag tails and ducklings from their nest. They are a destructive bulling force, which needs to be addressed.
Hi, my name is Tam, and for the last 15 years I have made a living by going to other people’s homes and looking after their gardens. Up to about 10 years ago, the gardens would be full of a variety of birds, which would blend in together with the sounds of nature. Over the last 5 years the ravens have completely taken over, and the other birds are all disappearing. I can’t hear them anymore. Now at work, instead of experiencing the joys of peace and quiet, and listening to the world go by, I feel an unhealthy rage towards those screaming crows that are yet again trying to ruin my moment.
Simple fact, the number of Ravens that have been bludgeoned to death by upset people has increased significantly over the past few years. I do not condone this action, but at the same time, I know how they feel.
My home http://www.wonderlandholistics.com/ has become a good target for these ravens. I have lots of food growing, and chickens whose eggs the ravens do their best to steal. They are hugely smart and often they work in groups. Once they target an area with food potential, they call in their mates. They decimate the seedlings in the garden beds and the fruit on the trees and they frighten all the other bird life away so all you can hear is their screaming.
As a reaction to the limitations of council rules, as well as the general safety of my friends and neighbours my retaliation towards the Australian Raven so far, has been limited to Water guns. There is a high-powered water gun at each corner of my house (always left loaded), and every time they start screaming, I stop what I am doing, grab the gun and march towards them determinedly, until I get just below them, then I shoot. If they fly just out of reach and settle, then I continue marching towards them and aim the gun again, until I chase them right out of our street.
My war on these birds has been going on for many years. The water gun method works as far as making them go somewhere else. Sometimes all I need to do is open the front door and step out, and you can see them all stop what they are doing and look at me. What they say to each other is for you to imagine, but the next second they all fly off, screaming obscenities as they go.
Other times there will be a group of them challenging me, and then I must keep refilling the gun and pushing them back. If they had their way, they would peck me to death like they do to the possums and various other small animals.
Once I have chased them off, and I go back to what I was doing, there is a magical peace the descends, and then slowly I start hearing all the other bird life again.
Of course, all I am doing is chasing them off to some other neighbourhood. They will be back tomorrow to try again, and there will probably be more of them. This problem will keep getting worse until it is addressed.
I ask for suggestions to deal with this problem.
