Day 13 Evo Moto Adventures Malaysia tour

This morning flipped the usual script.
Pack first, then breakfast.
A small shift, but one that keeps you sharp on the road. Not every hotel lives up to its glossy brochure promises, and that’s exactly why we put in the groundwork first… so when it matters, the experience delivers where it counts.

Breakfast was just around the corner, easy and unpretentious.
Today’s ride was a lighter one, about half the usual distance. A bit of breathing room in the schedule, like a calm stretch of road before the next set of bends.

The first stop brought a completely different energy. After days of quiet towns and laid-back coastal routes, we rolled into the busy gateway between Malaysia and Singapore.
Traffic thick, streets buzzing, everything moving at its own chaotic rhythm.
Good thing we’re on bikes… parking becomes a suggestion rather than a problem.

We ducked into a cafƩ that doubled as a terrarium workshop. A curious little oasis. Clean, fresh, and quietly humming while the city roared outside.
You could design your own miniature jungle while sipping your coffee. Not a bad way to pause the day 🌿

Next up, things got a bit more playful. An adventure park packed with options… soccer, pickleball, archery, paintball, rope courses, ATVs, and go-karts.
Naturally, we lined up for the karts.
No bold claims here… just a few seconds off the fastest lap šŸ˜

Lunch took us somewhere surreal… Forest City.
Rows of high-rise buildings wrapped in greenery, like nature slowly reclaiming glass and concrete.
There’s an outlet mall, duty-free shops, all pristine and polished… yet eerily quiet.

A place where it feels like the staff outnumber the visitors. Beautiful, spotless, and just a little bit haunting.

From there, it was a short cruise to our resort hotel. An early finish for the day, and no agenda beyond unwinding. Sometimes the best part of the journey is knowing when to stop and let the day settle.

Dinner at one of the resort’s fine restaurants, then an early night.

Engines off, minds quiet, and finally… a proper recharge before the next stretch of road.

Day 12 Evo Moto Adventures Malaysia Tour

Woke up to one of those mornings that feels like it’s been filtered through a postcard… and a pretty special view beside me too.
Early breakfast for once, which meant no tactical hovering for a table.

The day kicked off in true adventure style: a bit of reconnaissance, a bit of guesswork, and a whole lot of ā€œwe’ll figure it out as we go.ā€ Opening hours during holidays can be a game of roulette, but that’s half the fun.

Found a coffee shop, regrouped, caffeinated, recalibrated… then pointed the bikes toward whatever waited next.

That’s the magic of riding through new territory.
The map shows roads, but locals show you stories.

Cruising along the coast, we stumbled into one of those stories… a humble prawn farm quietly doing big things.

Met Syahrul Ariffin and his crew, absolute legends, who walked us through their operation supplying prawns to local businesses. Proper behind-the-scenes stuff.
But then, plot twist.
They’ve also built a playground for grown-ups who refuse to grow up. RC cars, boats, trucks, diggers, 4x4s… basically a miniature mechanical universe where time disappears and inner children take the wheel.
I was all in. Easily one of those unexpected highlights that turns a good day into a great one.
Safe to say, this stop has earned a permanent spot on future tours.

Back on the road, a quick hydration pit stop before lunch, about an hour down the line.
Lunch itself was at a newer spot mixing local flavours with a few Western comforts.
I stayed loyal to the local dishes, but it’s always good to know there’s a backup plan if your tastebuds start negotiating.

We lingered a bit longer here. The kind of break where helmets stay off just a little longer and chairs feel extra comfortable.
The day had stretched out, longer than usual, and the saddle had started to make its presence known.

One final detour before calling it a day… and it didn’t disappoint.
A full-blown Flintstones-style palace rising out of nowhere, complete with what looked like a theme park entrance.
Turns out it’s a private build for the Sultan of Johor, so no entry, but even from the outside it felt like stumbling into a cartoon set mid-ride. Wild.

Rolled into the hotel just in time to reset. Shower, feet up, a moment of stillness… before heading out again for something pretty special.
A night river cruise, drifting through darkness while thousands of fireflies lit up the trees like nature’s own Christmas lights. Quiet, surreal, almost hypnotic.
One of those moments that doesn’t need words but somehow deserves them anyway.

Wrapped it all up the best way possible… street-side dinner, grabbing bites from different vendors, sampling a bit of everything.
No fancy setting, just good food, warm air, and the kind of atmosphere you can’t manufacture.

Big day. Full tank. Even fuller memories.

Day 11 – Evo Moto Adventures Malaysia Tour

ā€œRest dayā€ā€¦ which in our world just means fewer kilometres and more curious detours.
No alarms, no rush. A slow morning rolled into a late breakfast, and with that came the classic trade-off… good sleep, harder to snag a table. Worth it.

We stripped things back for the day. One bike, no luggage, just us and the road.
The climb uphill led us to a hidden gem… a century-old temple tucked inside a cave, surrounded by endless palm oil plantations.
One of those places that feels like it’s been quietly existing while the world speeds past.
A short staircase up, then a descent into the cave’s cool silence.
No bats this time, just stillness. And if you time it right, somewhere between 11:00 and 11:30, nature puts on a show. A single beam of sunlight cuts through the darkness like a spotlight from the heavens, landing perfectly on a sleeping Buddha. One of those moments that makes you stop talking without even realising.

Then it was off to chase ghosts of industry past.
An old tin mining town, once booming, now frozen in time. Riding through it felt like stepping into a paused film set. Life had been full here once, until flood, fire, occupation, and the fall of tin prices slowly drained it of its pulse.

Across the road, the mine entrances waited. Headlamps on, curiosity high… confidence lasted about 12 seconds.
The sound hit first.
Then the movement.
Low-flying bats doing laps in tight quarters was enough to trigger a tactical retreat. The ā€œAWASā€ sign suddenly felt less like a suggestion and more like a prophecy.

Lunch came with a bit of adventure on the side.
A narrow wooden suspension bridge tested balance and commitment before delivering us to a humble noodle spot recommended by locals.
The kind of place where you walk through what feels like someone’s home kitchen to reach the dining area.
Handmade noodles, no frills, just flavour.
A bit of Google Translate magic later, and we had their signature dish in front of us.

Simple, authentic, perfect.

The afternoon turned unexpectedly wholesome. A visit for a bit of history turned into minor celebrity status.
A school group had arrived, and suddenly we were the main attraction. Photos, laughter, signing books… the whole experience.
The teachers were just as welcoming, and it didn’t take long before we were already talking about coming back next year.

One last stop before heading home… and it saved the best for last.
A waterfall that looked almost too clean to be real. Crystal clear water, cool and inviting.
No swim gear, no problem. Sometimes you just commit.

Riding back in wet clothes turned into nature’s air conditioning, and honestly, not a bad way to end the day.

We wrapped it up back at the markets, returning like seasoned regulars. A bit of shopping, a bit of food, and that familiar buzz of a place that now felt like ours.

Rest day? Not even close. Just a different kind of adventure.

Day 10 Evo Moto Adventures Malaysia tour

The city let us slip away gently this morning. No chaos, no horns, just a slow stretch into the day as we rolled out through its quieter streets. Not a big place, but it had its charm… the kind that doesn’t shout, just nods politely as you pass.

On the outskirts, we found one of those ā€œhow is this even real?ā€ moments.
A mosque rising out of the water, especially in the soft light of morning, looked like it had decided gravity was optional. Inside, it was all space and serenity. White walls, pristine lines, and carpet so plush it felt like walking on a cloud that had taken up interior design.

Then things got a little more… adventurous.

Instead of the usual exit, we slipped off the motorway through a cheeky gap in the railings, dropped onto a dirt path, and rode straight into history.
An old railway tunnel from 1936, carved out by the Japanese. Cool air, dim light, and that echo that makes every engine note sound cinematic. Not your average coffee run.

The reward? A coastal cafĆ© with ocean views and a lineup of cakes that could derail anyone’s self-control. Pavlova included… because apparently Malaysia likes to flirt with Aussie classics too.

Cruising further down the coast, we hit a stretch known for turtle conservation. Some spots lean a bit touristy, but this one felt different.
The team at Chakar Hutan Turtle Conservation Centre were the real deal.
Passionate, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested. We missed the big turtle release by a couple of months, which stung a little, but it just means next tour gets an upgrade… timed perfectly with durian season as well. Now that’s a combo.

Back on the bikes, hydration became a priority… again. Caffeine Hut delivered some wild flavour combos. Berry and coffee sounded like a dare, tasted like a victory.

Not long after, we rolled into a beach that looked like it had been sculpted rather than formed. Massive rock formations, a hidden cave around the corner (accessible only if the tide plays nice or you’re willing to swim for it), and easily the best coconut frappĆ© of the trip.
Salt on the skin, cold drink in hand… hard to beat that.

Then came the main event.

Poo Cha. Stuffed crab. Local legend status. And deservedly so.
Rich, packed with flavour, and the kind of dish that makes you pause mid-bite just to process what’s happening.
Only mistake? Not ordering more. A rookie error.

Final stretch of the day rolled in with a different kind of energy.
No urgency, no tight schedule.
Tomorrow is a rest day. No alarms, no packing Tetris, no early starts.
Just a proper sleep-in… in a pretty fancy hotel too.

Day 9 Evo Moto Adventures Malaysia tour

Waking up on the east coast with a slightly cooler breeze and those endless beaches doing their thing 🌊
Heading south, we hugged the coastline, soaking up ocean glimpses between corners and staying cool with that sea air rolling through.

First stop was these cool little miniature beach houses, quiet now but come alive at night as food markets.
Not far up the road, a Chinese temple with some seriously impressive statues and detailed sculptures worth slowing down for.

Five minutes later… priorities šŸ˜„
Beach cafĆ© stop. Air con if you want it, beach chairs if you don’t, and plenty of Insta spots if that’s your thing. Good drinks, great vibe, hard to leave.

Quick pit stop at another cafĆ© (hydration is key šŸ¹) before rolling into a colourful 8 domed mosque that really pops against the sky.

Lunch was beachside with seafood front and centre.
Hard to beat fresh food with that kind of view.

Running a little late in the day but we had one more stop we couldn’t skip. Recommended by one of the amazing people we met along the way… and it didn’t disappoint.

A house with over 4000 bottles.
Started with a simple idea of clearing the beach so no one gets hurt, and turned into something pretty special.
Bottles from all over the world, even a few messages in a bottle.

At 80 years old, Ayahku Botol is full of energy, super friendly and loves a chat. One of those unexpected highlights.

Final stretch to the hotel… but no time to slow down.
Night markets, street art and more exploring to do šŸ”„

Day 8 – Evo Moto Adventures Malaysia Tour

Leaving Gua Musang and its towering limestone giants felt like riding away from an ancient kingdom. The mood was a little heavy… but the road pulled us forward.

Our first stop softened the goodbye.
A stunning waterfall tucked away like a secret.
The kind of place where time slows down. You could picnic, take a dip, or just sit and let the sound of rushing water do all the talking.

Then it was back to the rocks… but on a much grander scale.
A vast cave opened up before us, with a river flowing quietly through its heart.
Fish glided beneath the surface while we walked deeper inside, guided by echoes and the sharp, eerie chorus of bats overhead.
Step outside, and the scene flipped again. High above, enormous beehives clung to the rock face like nature’s own skyscrapers.

Next mission: food.

On the recommendation of a local, we ventured deep into the jungle, edging closer to the Thailand border.
One of those places you’d never find unless someone pointed the way.
And it delivered.
Great food, cold drinks, and exactly the reset we needed before the next stretch.

Post-lunch, the landscape began to shift. Dense green slowly gave way as we rolled toward a piece of living history.
The second oldest bridge in Malaysia.
Unlike the Victoria Bridge we visited earlier, this one is still very much alive, with trains rumbling across and pedestrians sharing the space.
Steel, stories, and motion all in one.

Before wrapping up the day, we made one last stop at a cafƩ packed with antiques, old furniture, and pieces of history.
A place full of character, where every corner had a story to tell. The drinks were spot on, just what we needed to carry us through the final stretch.

Our destination for the night was a feast for the eyes.
Murals covered the city walls, turning the streets into an open-air gallery.
And when night fell, the markets came alive.
Live music filled the air while the scent of street food pulled you in from every direction.

Another day, another chapter… and still plenty of road ahead.
