NSW Manufacturers - Funding Opportunity Now Open!

The Innovative Manufacturing Adoption Fund (IMAF) – Stage 1 is offering $10,000–$50,000 to help NSW manufacturers investigate advanced manufacturing technologies and build a pathway to greater productivity, competitiveness and growth.

Funding can support:
🔸 Feasibility studies and business cases
🔸 Pilot projects, prototyping and process testing
🔸 Assessment of new equipment, software and systems
🔸 Certification and compliance requirements

Stage 1 is a valuable opportunity to de-risk technology investment, test new approaches and build a stronger business case before committing to major capital expenditure.

🚨 Attention New South Wales Businesses 🚨
Net Zero Manufacturing Initiative Grant streams closing soon!

There are three grant streams available aimed at developing new low emission technologies, building local manufacturing capacity and stimulating local manufacturing of renewable energy generation, storage and transmission components.

The Clean Technology Innovation Grant helps businesses pilot and demonstrate lab proven clean technologies to accelerate their commercial readiness. Types of projects and activities that will be funded include but are not limited to:

🔸 Technology development
🔸 Construction of specific testing infrastructure
🔸 Prototyping
🔸 Product verification
🔸 Demonstration and deployment
🔸 Front end engineering design (FEED)
🔸 Technical feasibility studies.

The R&D Tax Incentive encourages innovation and stimulates growth by unlocking capital for research and development projects.
The claimable amount depends on your company turnover.

Small businesses with an aggregated turnover of less than $20million can claim a refundable tax offset of up to 43.5% on eligible R&D activity.

Larger businesses with an aggregated turnover of $20million or more can claim a non refundable tax offset of 38.5% on eligible R&D activity. This is equal to your corporate tax rate plus a tiered premium based of your R&D intensity (R&D spend as a share of total expenses). Claims are capped at an expenditure limit of $150 million per year.

AusTrade’s Export Market Development Grants (EMDG) Independent Review 2026 (a legislative requirement) has been tabled in Parliament. The review considers how EMDG should evolve to better support Australian businesses expanding internationally. The Government's response will shape the future of one of Australia's key export assistance programs.

The five key recommendations are:

🔸 Adopt a merit-based application process
🔸 Move to a 2-tiered structure for businesses: one focused on businesses that are ready to export; a second on established exporters.
🔸 Streamline assessment processes
🔸 Practical improvements to the online portal
🔸 Increased communication and support for applicants
