A lateral heel modification on a Century Support shoe from Royal Kerckhaert Horseshoe Factory with a ground out toe. Like a human sprinter in the starting blocks, enables the toe to get into the surface and create traction.

Suspensory ligament injury to the medial branch in this sports horse, treated in this case with a wide toe and wide medial branch. The wider side of the shoe must correspond with the injured branch of the ligament

A hind suspensory shoe modification, wider in the toe and narrower at the heel. This prevents the toe from sinking and allows the heel to descend into a soft ground surface. The idea is to increase the load on the deep digital flexor tendon, thereby providing better support to the fetlock joint and suspensory.
