I’ve heard of breaking in new boots… but this is next level 🥾🦔
Had a juvenile echidna wander straight up and park itself between my feet on tour this morning — completely unfazed.
In all my years on Magnetic Island, I’ve never had anything like this happen.
Not sure if it was curiosity… or a strong endorsement for my new Keens 👀
In all seriousness, this is incredibly rare behaviour — and a good reminder to always respect wildlife and give them space, even when they get a little too comfortable.

Occasionally at MI Ride we get blown away by a review. It is so humbling knowing that this wild passion we have for the Island, is acknowledged and enjoyed. This review is what it's all about, we live for these.

"What an amazing tour, Tim is an absolute gentleman, and a tour guide who is full of passion and knowledge, I love the flexibility of this tour. He gives enough time to stop along the way and check out the wildlife, so koalas, Black cockatoos, green ants, etc. The way he can talk about one animal and roll into the next and how these species coexist either as friend or Fo, reminded me of an episode by David Attenborough. He was more than accommodating for everything, was happy to answer all questions, introduce us to some of the locals, and stop & go for a walk to get a coconut. The charcuterie board that he set up was a perfect amount, where it is a smorgasbord for the senses, yet not overfilling that you’re uncomfortable. We invited him to sit down and after some persuading he joined us and the conversation flowed as if we’ve known him 100 years. If you're ever on Maggie Island, I implore you to go on the Sunset Safari bus tour. Tim you’re an absolute gentleman, and we can’t wait to see you again. cheers"

Today we turn TWO!
Two years ago, MI Ride Discovery Tours set out with a mission: to connect people more deeply with Magnetic Island’s wild beauty—off the beaten track and into the heart of nature.

Since then, we’ve met thousands of curious travellers, passionate locals, scientists, photographers, birders, and nature lovers. You've climbed aboard, shared stories, spotted koalas, and reminded us every day why we do what we do.

This journey has been one of purpose, community, and plenty of sand—and we couldn’t be prouder.

To everyone who’s supported us, believed in us, partnered with us, or simply taken a ride: thank you. From the bottom of our dusty shoes, we are so grateful.

Here’s to more stories, more sustainability, more slow travel, and more surprises coming soon… 👀

WE NEED YOU… to enter your photos in the Magnetic Island Photography Showcase!!! Thanks to those who have entered already, but we need more entries before the closing date of midnight Sunday 7th (only 5 days left😲) if we are to have a great community event like the last two years. Please support the Showcase by submitting your favourite images that display the amazing natural beauty of our awesome island.

Two great categories where we would love to have some extra entries are “Drone” and “Marine life”. Last year’s winners were Yerson Vallejos Lobos with his drone photo “Any day in paradise” and Oliver Scheele with “The living city”.
