Depending on the day, you might find yourself on Buster, our all-terrain champion with a
capacity of 11 passengers, or Big Bessie, with 27 seats. Joining our small group tours has quite some perks!
🐨 Less disturbance to wildlife. Smaller groups → less noise and disturbance → happier animals cosy and relaxed in their natural habitat!
👯‍♀️ Quality vs Quantity : allows your guide to tailor their approach to individual interests and
knowledge levels, ensuring personalised attention for each traveler. You’re into animals?
Let’s find them. Into geology? Let us show you.
🏎️ Personalised pacing : are you more interested in the koala in its natural habitat or can you spend time inspecting one specific boulder?
🤗 Build lasting connections with like-minded travelers. One of the unexpected joys of small group travel lies in the relationships formed with the people you explore something new
with. Do you share the same interests as the person sitting next to you? How aboutlunch or dinner together after and stay in contact?
🐸 Supporting responsible and sustainable tourism. Environmental consciousness and
social responsibility are crucial for thoughtful travellers. We leave nothing but footprints and take care about the nature around us, lowering the environmental impact.

Seabathing became popular by the late 1890s and Picnic Bay was viewed as a place of health revival. Up until late 1914, it was believed that the bay was safe from sharks thanks to the coral reef running across it. After an attack on a Magnetic Hotel employee near the old Hayles’ jetty, a decision was made in 1922 to build a free public bath at Picnic Bay. However, after a fatal shark attack at Alma Bay in 1929, the netted baths were replaced by a more substantial shark-proof swimming enclosure opened on 7 December 1930, pictured in the photo here.

One of the most enjoyed moments on our Sunset Safari is watching the sun set from West Point - the only beach on the island where you can see the sun set over the ocean, all year round! Clear or cloudy, it’s sure to show a spectacle every time 🌞

Especially during the warmer months, walking the tracks on Yunbenun/Magnetic Island comes with a few precautions :

• Know your limits, be realistic about your physical conditions and choose walks that suit your abilities.
• Tracks are graded in Australia. Use the classifications to determine if the walk is right for your level of fitness.
• Stay on the track! You wouldn’t be the first one to get lost in the bush..
• Walk safely. Wear appropriate shoes, use insect repellent and inform someone of your endeavour.
• Leave nothing but footprints! Keep our national park and its surrounding waters clean for its littlest locals.

Where other tropical islands boast palm trees and white beaches, Yunbenun (Magnetic Island) has a different iconic tree lining its coasts. Poking through large granite boulders
or bending dangerously low to the waters of the Coral Sea surrounding us, you will find the towering hoop pines that were once a popular natural resource for boat building and
construction. You might know them as Queensland Pine or Colonial Pine, but to us, they’re the stars of our East Coast here on Yunbenun.

They’re incredibly cute, and incredibly keen on your carrots!
But while in this photo one of our allies rock-wallabies is munching happily on a carrot, we still ask visitors to limit feeding them. It damages their health and alters their natural behaviour to seek food themselves.
If you do have the “need to feed”, we ask that you ONLY feed our rock wallabies and ONLY feed them proper food to avoid life threatening illnesses :
🧆 wallaby pellets from Arcadia News Agency
🥕 carrots
🍠 sweet potato
🍈 rock melon
🍎 apples
🧡 paw paw

Let’s work together to keep Yunbenun’s wildlife wild!

Have you ever wondered what lies around the corner of West Point Beach?
Meet Rollingstone Bay, arguably the least disturbed bay on the island.
With its dark volcanic rocks and pebbled beach, you might almost think you’ve taken a wrong turn and ended up on a different island!
Go find yourself a pirate and embark on a treasure hunt of a lifetime…. If you dare 🏴‍☠️
