Token gestures don’t usually mean much to me especially if the giver has the capacity to do so much more but today we got to be part of something that took courage and is helping lead the way. Alcoa changed the name of its Peel office to Alcoa Bindjareb office out of respect to Traditional Owners and to no longer honour the name of Thomas Peel. I hope this is also a start to more meaningful partnerships in the future. Respect and well done Alcoa on this move.

This is what happens when the local government body takes over a community event the Back to Pinjarra Day held on the closest Saturday from the 28th October in remembrance of the Pinjarra Massacre. How insensitive and so wrong it’s just ridiculous that they would put the name of the person who called for and was a big part of the Massacre of the Bindjareb Nyungars. Questions need to be asked.
