Memory lane for a former ABC journo who visited Toulouse when TAA bought its first Airbus. This Beluga- named after the whale for obvious reasons of shape- is used to airlift large fuselage sections to the final assembly plant at Toulouse-Blagnac airport. The entire nose hinges sideways to load them. Think of it next time you're on a Jetstar or Qantas Airbus.

France's biggest wildfire since 1949 is now under control after burning 17,000 hectares with one death and many fireys injured. We are still a little toey about travelling too far from Carcassonne - our trip through the forest to Lagrasse on Monday could have been a disaster if we had gone one day later. Much of this forest is now a moonscape.
