Great Barrier Reef Legacy 100% promotes and encourages everyone to either take part or support others in the Global Climate Strike tomorrow.
This is an opportunity for us to stand and speak as a unified global community that refuses to let the business as usual model continue, to let the in-power minority dictate the fate of OUR planet.
In a time when we are losing biodiversity at an alarming rate, when fires are deliberately lit to fuel a relentless hunger for greed, when ice is melting faster than predicted, and when ecosystems are collapsing because environmental conditions have changed so rapidly - we need to act.
Around the world tomorrow millions of people will stand by your side to let our so-called leaders and fellow Global Climate Strikers know we are here in number, that together we can effect change through our behaviours and our voices, and that we are not going to stop up until we secure the future we need.
So tomorrow encourage your children to walk out of school because it's their future we are toying with, explain to your boss and co-workers why you are striking and urge others to do the same. If you are unsure, ask yourself: Will the race to renewable energy be worse than non-stop burning of fossil fuels? Will protecting the natural places and species we love to see, visit, and watch stop you being happy? Will having clean water and air to breathe be worse than plastics in our oceans and smog in our air? If the answer is no to any of these, then we want the same things.
Listen to the science not the opinions. Follow the movement not politics. Stop and think about looking back in 10 years at a world that barely resembles the one you remember when you were a child, with fewer species above and below the water, burning forests across the globe, vanishing ice caps at both the poles, dying reefs affecting billions, and a warming climate that threatens everything we know and love - were you part of the problem, or part of the solution?
