Over the past 3 weeks MFV Tacoma has been hosting their annual tuna polling adventures into the Great Australian Bight. Over an incredibly successful season, near 3t of Southern Bluefin Tuna were pulled on deck and will be sold though local outlets and restaurants. Thrilled participants who were from the Eyre Peninsula and interstate say this experience is absolutely bucket list worthy - a fantastic time was had by all! Next years trips start from Friday 30th Jan, 2026.

Today the passengers from the PONANT cruise ship had the opportunity to taste fresh Port Lincoln Southern Bluefin tuna, prepared by Chef Kris Bunder aboard the historic tuna clipper, Tacoma Mfv
They also got to try their hand at tuna poling as part of the shore excursions offered on their maiden voyage to Port Lincoln. Fair to say the French speaking passenger group loved their experience and we were delighted to host them. We hope this is one of many opportunities to welcome such exclusive ships to our seafood capital.
Other tours for the ship’s passengers included the Axel Stenross Maritime Museum and the renowned Experience Coffin Bay oyster tour, all curated and hosted by our iconic Australian Coastal Safaris .

ROWING NEWS
There is nothing like having someone new to coach and spur the team to improve their rowing skills. Joining us for the time until he heads to sea tuna fishing is young Callum from Cornwall.
Callum is a gig rower - that’s a 32 ft 6 oared traditional rowing boat that has been revived into a cultural icon in nearly every Cornish village across the county. Cadgwith is the fishing village where Callum’s rowing club has 6 gigs for a population of only 100!
Each year, the nearby SCILLY ILES host a world gig championship with over 3000 competitors and some 150 boats in all categories. Our rowing team have also been in touch with a rowing group in Albany WA and all eyes are on a wooden boat festival in 2026 - watch this space for up dates!
