The two Great White Shark Expeditions with Shark Biology Course to the Neptune Islands, South Australia, are about to begin, and great white sharks are currently present on site, so we're expecting two wonderful expeditions. There’s more closeup images of ‘Slamdog’ flying above the waters of the Neptune Islands than taken swimming near the cage! 🚀

This formidable sub-4m male with the unique black pigmentation spot on his snout was known for explosive breaches over multiple trips in multiple years. Good ID images from underwater are much rarer as he would rarely approach us close underwater, preferring to stay in the background shadows. 🥷🦈

Our current tour has picked ip from last tours success reporting 2 sharks today, our old mate ‘Chic’ and another new guy. Hopefully this is a great sign for things to progress this Spring season with the water viz generally the clearest of the year. We have just a few cabins remaining for the season now including on the special longer tour itineraries at the end of Sept and October. Late September and October is peak for a most reliable shark viewing adventure.

This as yet unnamed slim young female appeared for a couple days of our last tour in the company of our old mate Macalister. She has a flashy white tail and gill spots making her easy to ID with any future visits.

With such nice shark diving already on our first trip of the Spring season it’s a great sign that sharks will continue to build through October. Grab a cabin and come meet the sharks.

A shot here from our archives, however the crew reported another shark day today, albeit sightings were limited to down in the submersible cage.

The Spring season is due to improve further along with the clearest waters of the year. We have just a few spaces remaining for the season including the special longer tour itineraries at the end of Sept and also at the end of October. SHARK UPDATE: On our first trip for the season It was fantastic to see a couple of new great white sharks straight-up today at the Neptunes. The two beautiful sharks surrounded our Ocean Floor Cage Dives on all dives and we had very happy divers.

Hopefully this is a great sign of things to come along this Spring season with the water viz generally the clearest of the year from about now. We have just a few cabins remaining for the season including on the special longer tour itineraries at the end of Sept and also at the end of October. Late September and october dates have proven to amoung the most reliable times in recent years.

In memory of a true legend. 💕
Today we farewell Dolly Parton — an extraordinary woman whose talent, generosity and spirit touched millions of lives around the world.
Years ago, a spectacular diva of the Neptune Islands visited us, and there was only one name that seemed fitting: Dolly.
She was every bit as unforgettable as her namesake — magnificent, charismatic and impossible to ignore.
So today, we remember both Dollys: one who inspired generations above the waves, and one who continues to captivate us beneath them.
Rest peacefully, Dolly. Thank you for the music, the memories and the magic. 🦈❤️

SPRINGTIME SHARKS

Springtime at the Neptune Islands often see the most “springy” sharks of the year as sharks come into to prey on the fur seal pups, born last summer, now being weened and needing to leave the protection of the shallows and fend for themselves.
