"I see into the future a rising communal center where greater things than ever us will be the proud heritage of the coming generations". Words written in 1940 by Charles Perryman in his manuscript Landfalls. On Saturday night we used our communal center to celebrate the life of Charles. "The Forgotten Artist and Poet of Port MacDonnell" is forgotten no longer. Thanks to our Mayor Kylie Boston and the District Council of Grant for their support. Please visit our C. E. Perryman exhibit on display until the end of May. After May his storyboard will be moved into our Lighthouse Keeper display.

In 1920 a booklet was sent to the next of kin of Australians who had died overseas in active service during WW1. The booklet was called " Where the Australian's Rest". It contained a description of many of the Cemetries overseas in which Australians, including those whose names were unknown, were buried. A poem in the booklet called 'To Those Who Died, 1914-1918' was written by Charles Elliott Perryman. Charles served with the Australian Army Medical Corps in Flanders and Northern France. Join us on Saturday May 9th when we celebrate Charles remarkable life and legacy.

PMMM is proud to be part of South Australia's History Festival this year. For the month of May we have a special exhibition on display "The Forgotten Artist and Poet of Port MacDonnell." Part of the display features a beautiful WW1 Sketchbook, containing watercolours, pen and ink drawings and poems. We are very grateful to the owner of the sketchbook who lives interstate and has generously agreed to loan it to us for a month. You can see one of the exquisite watercolours in the book on display in a glass cabinet. A video of all the content will form part of the exhibit.
