“Walking on Country” by Nardja Davies, a local Birpai woman and Education Ranger within National Parks, is a vivid acrylic painting that captures the essence of exploring her ancestral lands. This piece reflects Nardja’s deep connection to her Country, as she navigates and discovers its untouched parts, particularly the lush mountains and serene creeks. The painting immerses viewers in the experience of walking through a wet forest, highlighting the intricate tapestry of leaves in various states of decay, flowers, berries, and fungi that adorn the forest floor. Through her perspective, Nardja invites us to appreciate the often-overlooked micro-world beneath our feet, reminding us to look down and notice the beauty and diversity that exists in the forest’s carpet of leaves. “Walking on Country” is a heartfelt portrayal of the intimate and grounding experience of connecting with nature on a deeper level.

🌟 Exciting News! 🌟

I am absolutely thrilled and humbled to share with all of you that I have been nominated for the prestigious title of "Citizen of the Year"! It's an incredible honor to be recognized for my contributions to our community, and I couldn't be more grateful.

I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt appreciation to everyone who has supported me throughout this journey. I particularly would like to thank my grandmother Marion Holten without her instruction, encouragement, belief in me, and unwavering support, none of this would have been possible. Each and every one of you has played a significant role in shaping who I am today, and I am forever grateful for your presence in my life.

This nomination is not just about me; it's a testament to the power of unity and collective effort. Together, we have accomplished so much, and I am proud to be a part of a community that consistently strives for positive change

I firmly believe that true success lies in the ability to give back and make a difference in the lives of others. This nomination serves as a reminder that there is always more work to be done, more lives to touch, and more impact to create. Let's continue to inspire and support one another as we strive to build a better future for all.

I would also like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to all the other incredible individuals who have been nominated for this esteemed title. Each one of you has made a significant impact in your own unique way, and I am honored to be in such esteemed company.

Thank you once again for your unwavering support and for being a part of this incredible journey with me. Let's continue to make a difference Wakulda (as one)
