We awaken today from a long hiatus on social media to commemorate this year's World Tourism Day. We wouldn't be here without the collective human desire to explore, discover and connect through travel.

This year's theme is 'Tourism for Inclusive Growth.' The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) states that "behind every number, there is a person...And we celebrate tourism's unique ability to ensure that nobody is left behind as the world begins to open up again and look to the future."

Although you may haven't heard from us in a while, the Tribu Collective team has done a lot of reflective work to imagine, shape, and set into motion a diverse and expansive vision for how we want to engage with the rest of the world when the new normal settles in. A little hint- we will dive deep into our 3 Cs: Community, Conservation and Celebration.

Watch this space as we gradually update and send out communication on the different aspects of the business we are excited to be sharing with you soon. Take care and stay safe out there! xoxo

Maldives is opening up its borders for tourists of all nationalities as early as July. There will be no special requirements, such as a negative COVID-19 medical certificate or any quarantine period, for visitors upon entry as initially drafted.

Super yachts and private jets are now permitted to arrive by the travel authorities.

Travel safe and stay healthy, everyone!

The Indian Ocean destination confirms it will allow tourists to enter without prior testing or a mandatory quarantine period.

A giant step to protect the endangered pangolins, the world's most trafficked mammal, was recently announced in China. The government upgraded the Chinese pangolins to the highest possible protection status alongside its pandas and tigers. Consequently, pangolin scales are now officially off the Chinese traditional medicine list, where it was prescribed to improve blood circulation and reduce inflammation. Although the demand for pangolin scales for its healing power is high, it is merely made of keratin which is exactly the same material found in human fingernails and rhino horns.

With the demand from Chinese consumers braking to a halt, the large scale illegal trade will hopefully cease, giving populations a chance to recover from decades of black-market trafficking in countries like the Philippines, where the endemic pangolin of Palawan teeters in the brink of extinction.

World Oceans Day | June 8
IS YOUR FAVORITE SUSHI SUSTAINABLE?

World Oceans Day is a day for us to honor, protect, and conserve the ocean. One fairly easy way to contribute to this cause is by minimizing single plastic use so they don't end up floating in our oceans and consumed by marine life.

Another significant step to help improve our oceans' health is to buy and consume ocean-friendly, sustainably-sourced seafood to help improve fish population left in the sea.

Here is a great recommendation guide from the Monterey Bay Aquarium to help you make the right decision when dining and shopping for your favorite seafood: https://www.seafoodwatch.org/-/m/sfw/pdf/guides/mba-seafoodwatch-sushi-guide.pdf?la=en

Make a difference by making responsible seafood choices.

Two of our favorite SE Asian travel destinations, Myanmar and the Philippines, have been included in Forbes' list of potential major tourist destinations in a post-COVID world. Both countries are incredibly diverse and underrated when it comes to tourist attractions and immersion activities apt whether you are traveling solo, as a couple, or as a family unit.

Others in the list are Ethiopia, Georgia, Slovenia, Iran, and Tunisia. Dream now, travel later.

They're some of the world's most underrated countries - though they may not stay that way for much longer.

World Environment Day | June 5
TIME

The foods we eat, the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the climate that makes our planet habitable all come from nature.

Yet, these are exceptional times in which nature is sending us a message:

To care for ourselves we must care for nature.

It’s time to wake up. To take notice. To raise our voices.
It’s time to build back better for People and Planet.

This World Environment Day, it’s Time for Nature.

Today is the International Day for Biological Diversity! 🐋🦈🐧🦋🦇🦉🐞🐢🦎🦀🌳🍄🌺
Proclaimed by the United Nations to increase awareness and understanding of the variety of life on Earth ( ) and the issues they face...we highlight the diversity in the Bohol Sea. 🐋🐬🐳

With at least 18 species of and documented to occur here, it has the highest cetacean diversity in one area by far in the country! 🇵🇭

Let's protect these animals and the habitat they live in! 💙
Keep our seas clean, stop all destructive and illegal activities, and let's respect these beautiful creatures by keeping our distance 😊

Mother Nature is winning while we are on lockdown 😍

'A village in the southern Philippines known as a nesting haven for critically endangered hawksbill turtles (Eretmochelys imbricata) has managed to protect and oversee the successful hatching of hundreds of eggs amid a community lockdown.

The community released 299 hatchlings into the sea in the first two weeks of May and anticipate another 100 to be hatched before the end of the month, making it their most successful month in recent years.'
